What you do:
Give a very brief setting prompt, ideally top-down

What I do:
Make some cards

The two activities may be related

So, food world. What is a food world? I know you mean a world made out of food, but it could also be a world with an emphasis on food, or if I want to be difficult, a world that is being eaten. Zendikar is debatably a food world from the perspective of the eldrazi.
Let's tackle the first one. What makes a food world distinct? What are its themes? Is it a utopia where world hunger is solved? A war-torn place where you fight over wine fountains and chocolate mines? A dystopia where the world is slowly shrinking as its populace must eat it to survive? How do I represent an edible setting through mechanics? The world is most strongly associated with lands. Sacrificing lands can't be a core mechanic. Is mana food? I don't think players will get that connection. Food tokens also exist, for better or worse.
Is everything made out of food? Are the creatures also food? Would it be cannibalism for a burger to eat a taco? Does excrement eventually turn into food again? These are the questions that keep me awake at night.

Dessert Dervish
Creature — Viashino Warrior
Haste
When ~ enters the battlefield, you may deplete once. When you do, target creature can't block this turn. (To deplete, tap a land you control. It doesn't untap during its controllers next untap step.)
Viashino cloak themselves with the appearance of their last meal to route the caravans of the sugar dunes.
3/2

why aren't chameleon viashino a thing yet

Sparkspuzzle
Instant
Ingredients: A red instant, an Elemental, an artifact. (Exile up to one of each ingredient from your graveyard as you cast this spell to enhance it.)
[0] ~ deals 2 damage to target creature.
[1-2]~ deals 2 damage to any target.
[3] ~ deals 4 damage to any target.

This is more in the "making food" territory.

American Frontier Fakelore, ala Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyan, Johnny Appleseed, Rip Van Winkle, etc.

sorry but what anime are those

Make a card representing a book, film, television show, piece of music, or other artistic work that was emotionally meaningful to you. Try to capture in the flavor (both text and mechanical flavor) what made that piece of media feel so resonant.

ogres should be thankful for the chance they have been given in society

Kithkin were designed to be a categorically white race, which begs the question, why does white, the color of equality, utilize slavery?
Slavery as racism: Compraed to other colors, white is probably equally, or perhaps even more so, capable of dehumanization. As the color of "us", it makes sense that it's also the color of "them". Black and red view people as individuals, white view people as collectives.
Slavery as byproduct: White loves to make laws. The set of rules that Kithkin use to run society, could facilitate a lifestyle that is effectively slavery from an Ogre's POV, or result in it as punishment for crimes they can't avoid.
Slavery as benevolence: White is probably the color most capable of projecting its own values onto others. This is similar to the previous point, but instead of coming from an absolute adherence to law, it comes to a point of flawed benevolence. "We know what's better for you".
Slavery as necessity: White could probably stoop to slavery if it is viewed as a necessity to achieve an ideal.
I'm not going to explore the reasons for why an ogre would try to break free from slavery because that doesn't seem very nuanced.

The racism angle is probably the easiest and most realistic because of human history. From a set-building perspective it helps to ground the setting, while the other ones make it more Magic-esque. As it's an emphasis of the setting, going with one of the more fantastical approaches seems more reasonable.

I guess the mechanical emphasis of the ogres should be "breaking free" in some fashion.

Ogre Wallcrusher
Creature — Ogre
Trample
: Unchain 2 (If this creature isn't unchained, put two +1/+1 counters on it. It becomes unchained and attacks each combat if able.)
Some ogres made good use of their experiences from before the revolution.
4/3

It's... bad monstrosity.
I considered writing "and attacks each combat, even if unable", but I decided not to explore that rabbit hole.
I think it does a decent job of presenting a before and after though, and the forced attacking gives it some weight.

Ludviary Prophet
Creature — Kithkin Cleric
, Tap an untapped creature you control with 4 or more power: Creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn. Activatet this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery.
He stands on tall shoulders to deliver loftier messages still.
1/3

I guess enslaving ogres to use them as podums isn't the most sympathetic cause, but I was thinking more about the mechanical identity of how to represent slavery, by having kithkin utilize creatures with a quality that they themselves don't have, which also helps contextualize why they do it.
I guess it's a failure that unchain doesn't interact with this in a negative way.

Well then.
Shuuen no Shiori is a multimedia project about a group of students in the occult club caugh in an endless loop of repeatedly dying to assorted urban legends. As far as I understand, their story is itself its own urban legend, created by a group of students in the film club. I suspect they also get violently murdered, but I'm not really sure since the project died and afaik it's not all translated either. So I guess the major themes here are urban legends and inescapable cycles with pretty clear horror associations.

Haunting Visage
Sorcery
Imminence (If you would draw a card, you may pay 2 life to return this card from your graveyard to your hand instead.)
Target player discards two cards. For each card they didn't discard this way, they lose 2 life.
Most live with a fear of the unknown. An unfortunate few have to accept the horror of reality.

suck it control players

Elder Fish

Are we in cthulhuland? Or is this just a really old fish? My head can't decide between old ones and talking fish from disneyland.
On an unrelated note, I'd love to see anglerfish merfolk and other deep ocean varieties.

Stalking Trapjaw
Creature — Fish
Flash
Resurface—, Put the top five cards of your library into your graveyard. (You may cast this card from your graveyard for its resurface cost.)
~ resurfaces with three +1/+1 counters.

Escape meets Dredge as something that should never be.
I kind of think it's okay though, don't @ me.
I got the image of a plane consisting mostly of small islands where people travel with boat over large oceans and go diving to survive. Like a wet version of Zendikar with more sharks and squids.

Choose 2 of the classes in Dungeons and Dragons, and make cards based on them, either creatures of that class, or cards that represent an ability of that class.

does the sweet release of death count

On some level I think this is what Shadows over Innistrad was supposed to be, Emrakul isn't really framed as evil so much as helpless. She seems kind of self-aware though. I guess you could go one step further and have something that is horrible by virtue of its benevolence, as opposed to something that is both a horror and benevolent.

Can you win the game by being so nice the opponent loses? Drawing them to death is an obvious example, I'm not really convinced there are any others, so I'd probably have to carry it on theme. I guess the conondrum here is that magic is about killing other players by attacking so it's difficult to convey a notion of benevolence through mechanics, at least on creatures. Maybe if you keep them away from lower rarities. I guess you mention a singular horror, not several of them. Maybe it's a djinn-like creature.

You could probably make a high-concept set where you win through non-direct methods but I don't think it would play all that well. Maybe it's too big-brained for me.

Overflowing Creativity
Enchantment — Aura Curse
Enchant opponent
At the beginning of enchanted player's upkeep, they exile the top three cards of their library.
Enchanted player may play cards exiled by ~.
At the beginning of enchanted player's end step, ~ deals 1 damage to them for each card exiled by it.

the "too much of a good thing" approach

Curtains of Ignorance
Sorcery
When ~ enters the battlefield, each player discards their hand.
At the beginning of each player's end step, that player discards a card.
"Think not, young one. Such worries are for me to be burdened with."

the "bad thing presented as good thing" approach

if you at some point expected me to think about the struggles of genuinely nice horrors that are victimized for their appearance or something then you're not going to get that

I had this idea before I really started thinking about your prompt.
What does it mean for a spirit to abandon a body? Are they leaving it while alive, or after they have died? What does temptation imply? Is leaving the body a taboo? Are they being tempted to leave the body, or is leaving the body inherently tempting? How do you even leave the body? Is that a thing you just do when you see fit? What happens to the body when a spirit leaves it?

I had an idea of creatures that explore the world through lucid dreaming. Not really sold on the execution. I'd template it more like exert if I found a good verb.
