I obviously need sleep ... or maybe more caffeine? Red Line? No idea; I guess the simplest solution would be to just create a land token, but it would need a name I feel.

Current state, you can T1 cast this (with Spirit Guide or Mox support) to blow up your own nonbasic land, make infinite mana, and cast Walking Ballista to kill your opponent to death. Pretty easy to pull off in Legacy and Vintage, maybe even in Modern (though not as consistently).

Blowing up the land and giving your opponent a basic is probably the cleanest solution, but then it feels like a bad Assassin's Trophy.

You could alternatively have it say "Enchanted land loses all abilities and gains 'T: Add one mana of any color. ~ doesn't untap during your next untap step.'", I'm not entirely sure where you're going with this.

Idea for a new counter with mechanical meaning


Earthworm - :3::g:
Creature - Worm
When ~ enters the battlefield, destroy target land. That land's controller puts a fertility counter on a land they control (Whenever it's tapped for mana, its controller adds one additional mana of any color.)

This turns into "actual" LD when you have more than one of them

I was wondering how to justify a treasure token and was thinking the treasury, but the crown works better.

Note: Brice Williams was the author of the article, but maybe also the artist? I just credited the author of the article where I found it.

Hmm, I made this card for my Silmarillion fanset some time ago:

IMO the suggested cards that destroy nonbasic lands only are playing it too safe - even down to / including the cost. I also don't get why the Treasure should come into play tapped.

Red variants that do the Ghost Quarter effect for nonbasic lands are quite common among custom designers.
An example of such would be:
