Sorry, thought I'd tossed my wishes in too. (no idea what happened there)
Hope your birthday was chill!

Thanks, all. Just took a day off from worrying about stuff and grabbed a hamburger at buffalo wild wings with my brother, so it was chill. :)

I sent you a happy birthday text message, but I have no idea if you even got it. Do you even still have the same phone number?

@Huey: Nice.

@Luna: I got a new phone actually, haha. I'll send you a text since you're still in my contacts.

Guys, I think Humble Bundle just put out their biggest bundle yet. There's approximately a billion dollars worth of games, comics and ebooks for just $30. And this time HB's not taking a percent. Looks likes it's 100% charity. And I figure the ACLU is going to need the cash over the next few years.

I'll be up for the next 16 hours. I didn't get any text last night.

I've actually been thinking lately to just make a large donation to the ACLU directly. Ever since getting a decently-paying job (and honestly since a little before then), I've mostly been avoiding sales of games because 90% of the games I'm interested in are indie titles anyway and I'd rather the developers see more of my money.

I think what Humble is doing here is a great idea, but if I were to donate and get all those games (many of which I've had my eye on for a while), then the developers are never going to see a cent from me, and that notion does not please me. Besides which, I already have several dozen games I have not played and I've mostly out a stop on my buying new games until I've played some of those.

Mrs. OL and I sat down at the beginning of the year and drew up a plan for supporting the charities that we feel strongly about. It's something we've been meaning to do for ages, and just never got around to, but now felt like the time, so to speak. I'm glad that we finally did it.

I mean, it's not like the amounts we were able to pledge are earth-shattering, but, in most cases, you can pledge a small amount each month, and my understanding is that monthly donations are actually better for most organizations than lump sums, because it allows them to estimate their future funds with more accuracy.

Good to know.

...

I have no idea what a good monthly amount is. I have never paid a monthly subscription.

I mean, we just do $10 a month to a handful of different causes. It doesn't seem like a lot, but, hopefully, it adds up!

Thanks.
I'm just going to have to ask more questions about the position, but there's a fair amount I'm going to need to know going in that determines if it's worth my effort to take it.

In other news, I'm stumped on my recent story. Having trouble getting the transitions in and starting certain scenes has been a nightmare. I scratched out a nice chunk, but now it's starting to stutter and I feel like I can't find the right approach on some of it. Momentum is a helluva thing...

I'm working on a new story, and I've decided, for no real reason, to outsource one choice in the story to the community. Basically, I need a humanoid (but non-human) race. There may be some choices I will veto for various reasons, but I'd like to take a suggestion from the M:EM if possible.

So, what would you folks like to see in a Raven story?

Naga? I'd like to vote for Naga.

Part of me wants to be a nuisance and suggest Sliver, but that just makes me mad.

I'm half tempted to legitimately suggest Slith though. And Atog.
