I love the punisher effect.

Aria to Crescendo
Sorcery (R)
Target opponent chooses one—
  • He or she discards two cards at random; or
  • You exile the top three cards of your library and you may play them this turn.

Wrest Control-
Sorcery
Target creature's controller chooses one:
  • You gain control of that creature.
  • Put that creature on top of its owner's library.

they work toward the same goal of getting rid of your opponent's threat, but they get to decide whether they'd rather skip their draw or just deal with you having it. play it on a llanowar elves? yeah you can have that. play it on a grave titan? that's probably going on top. somewhere in between? who knows?

:duel:

So I get a one mana cheaper Time Eb? That seems pretty dang powerful, because losing the marginal utility of mana-locking your opponent doesn't change the fact that this is the blue Doom Blade. I would say put it to three, but then you just have Time Eb, although I guess it could be an instant?

it's not just mana-locking. ebbing their cheap drops is a great early tempo play and they have an out. plus, has Time Ebb ever been good enough for constructed play?

:duel:

So both effects should work towards the same goal, huh?

Dark Temptress
Creature — Succubus
When Dark Temptress enters the battlefield, any opponent may have you sacrifice it. If any player does, add to your mana pool.
She'll always leave you with something, but as soon as she's gone, you'll be craving for more.
3/3

Enlightened Offer
Sorcery
Draw four cards unless any opponent has you gain 20 life instead.
"Who knows what the kami will offer you when you step inside the temple? Whatever they do, keep yourself open to their wisdom, and I guarantee that you will step out with wide eyes and a lighter heart."
—Dosan the Falling Leaf

Am I doing this right?

Does gaining 20 life and drawing 4 cards work towards the same goal?

I like the idea of the first card.

I figure either effect would help a combo deck out quite a bit, yeah. Especially against aggro.

I played with Overrun / Moss Kami for , but if you don't have enough creatures, Overrun will be ineffectual, and if you do have enough creatures, you just end up overextending. I couldn't rectify it's problems.

I like the Dark Ritual chick.

Wild Call
Sorcery
Search your library for two creature cards with different names and reveal them. Target opponent may put a card revealed this way onto the battlefield under your control. Otherwise, put them into your hand. Shuffle the remaining cards into your library.

I like the Dark Ritual chick too.

Lets play a little bit:

Blind Perception
Instant (U)
Search your library for a card then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it. Target opponent chooses one:
--Manifest the top card of your library.
--Draw a card.

Ooh, introducing mind games to the breaking point. I worry it might fall apart though, because while your opponent shouldn't know what you're really aiming for, the only safe choice for you to make is to tutor up a creature. If you nab a creature, you've basically drawn it either way.

But, knowing that, wouldn't they want you to draw it so it has a turn of sickness? And knowing they'll put it into your hand, couldn't you then grab another spell?

Yo, if y'all like the Dark Ritual chick enough to talk about it, there's still twenty-five minutes left before the current Card of the Week thread closes! ;3

But there's so much competition :P I did think about nominating it, so I probably should.

You know, if I nominated every card I liked enough to talk about then

Actually, nevermind.

Exact Payment-
Sorcery
Destroy target creature unless its controller sacrifices two other creatures.
Lord Calamon's debtors may pay in gold or blood. Whose is of little consequence.

Veteran General :r:
Creature-Human warrior(U)
Tribute 1
If the tribute cost wasn't paid, put a 1/1 red warrior token on the battlefield under your control.
1/1

Probably unplayable, but might work in the right environment.

Appeal to Iroas :r::w:
Instant
Target opponent chooses one:
Creatures you control gain +1/+0, indestructible, lifelink and trample until end of turn
Search your deck for a white card, a red card and a white or red card with converted mana cost equal to 1 and add them to your hand, then shuffle your library.

Note, I should flavour this as someone trying to pray to iroas and somehow ending up praying mogis, if I have time later
