That duel land is actually a really cool setting. Props to you for that.

Fray doesn't seem especially useful. Isn't it just haste 95% of the time?

It is! And I don't think it's very great either.
It's haste with alternative cost though, so you can tweak the numbers a little more. If you play it for fray, then you have to attack with it. Not that you probably weren't going to anyway.

Maybe it could be untapped and attacking.

Maybe it enters after the declare blockers step and your opponent assignes a valid blocking creature to it after deciding blockers? Also defender.

My favourite criteria to give was always this:

Create a mega-mega-cycle, with one card in each of the five most recent blocks.

Going to do this in whatever order I feel like. Consider it some encouragement to make the best criteria or something.
Make a common or uncommon card that seems fun, exciting and playable, but due to some obscure rule interaction is actually miserable to play against, even if it's not particularly strong.

Does that mean the card can't be particularly strong, or that the power level of the card is not why it's miserable?

Unveil
Sorcery
Target player reveals his or her library.

That card is broken, but you need rules knowledge to know that the player gets to stack his entire library.
Actually, might need "reveals all and puts them back or something", not sure if putting it pack is implied or not.
It's hard to define what is "miserable to play against". I mean, the card either unintentionally needs to make stax viable, or use a lot of time. Most rules mistakes will be something you remember the next time they crop up. Anyway, let's try this.

Jealousy
Creature - Incarnation
~ is a copy of the creature you control with the highest power.
0/4

Given that copy effects are applied before P/T changing effects, it only reads base power. It's miserable to play against because everyone you play against will tell you otherwise when they cast a giant growth effect.

I could also just reprint Demigod of Revenge.
There's probably something I could do with neglected triggered effects in tournament settings or such, but I don't know how that works very well.

The second one is really nice( "well done!"), but would probably have space for some reminder text and the first one should probably say opponent since fateseal deck is a lot more painful than imperial sealx4
Actually I think you could get away with not having space for the reminder text if you put those on a 4-5 mana charm
I was thinking about something somehow being able to fail to find things on a search (an enchant world with braids cabal minion's effect that forced an opponent of the sacrificed permanent controller to search that player deck for a non enchant world card and add it to that player hand maybe?)or just granting creatures:"when a spell is cast for each colorless mana in its mana cost you may exile the first card of your library, if you don't this creature gets -1/-0 until end of turn.
But with an actually cool effect, just to have the time spent clicking on MTGO online skyrocketing.
I think you beat me on meaniness and coolness

Make a card for Renaissance.

Make the set yourself you cheap bastards.

Forced Inspiration
Instant (C)
Innovate
Innovate
Innovate
"At least it's not from a lack of trying."

Noethyl Fumes
Creature - Wall (C)
Defender
At the beginning of each opponent's combat step, that player taps a permanent he or she controls.
0/2

Lost Traveler
Creature - Human (U)
Whenever ~ becomes blocked, return it to your hand.
"I think I should have passed the mercury woods by now."
2/3

Creative Block
Enchantment (R)
Players can't innovate.

I cannot into rarity.

Anyway, I think it's "Designing for Timmy", "Developing Ability Words" and "Using humor in flavor text."

Ya, do those.

Well, okay.

So, my problem with timmy designs is that I can't do plain boring big stuff. My timmy cards are always just mastorbatory card wording that need to be splashy, I don't do big for the sake of being big. It just doesn't appeal to me.

Lumbering Woodpatrol
Creature - Yeti
Trample
The wooden paths of Vukril are rarely threaded by men. Dragged towards yeti caves, they still visit them frequently.
7/6

Eclipse Seraph
Creature - Angel
Lifelink
Whenever ~ attacks, you may pay X life. If you do, exile all other creatures with converted mana cost X.
"I will send you to rest, but I cannot assure you it will be a quiet one."
5/5

The Timber Council
Creature - Treefolk Druid
When ~ enters the battlefield, you may search your library for a card named ~, reveal it and put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.
If ~ would be put into your graveyard from anywhere, reveal it and put it on the bottom of your library.
7/10

I think these are all incidentally big. I didn't design any of them for timmy. The first one doesn't really fit either, I just liked the flavor text.
I'm not entirely sure if I'm bad at ability words, but I really never do them. While mapping out my set, I realized that none of my mechanics were ability words, despite how they're technically easier to design. They just don't have the same elegance and structure.

Bloodsoaked Mauler
Creature - Human Warrior
Adrenaline - At end of combat, if ~ is attacking, put a +1/+1 counter on it.
"My weapons are my language, their blows are my answer."
2/2

Steelsworn Knight
Creature - Human Knight
First strike
Armed - ~ gets +2/+0 as long as an artifact is equipped to it.
"I display my origin with my armor, and my destination with my lance."
2/2

Radiant Wisp
Creature - Wisp
Emanate - : Add to your mana pool. Activate this ability only if you have casted a spell this turn.
They light up in the presence of a strong desire.
0/3

Humor just isn't something I do in flavor text. I might accidentally come up with something, but making the card funny is never a part of any of my concepts.

Arcing Assault
Sorcery
Target creature you control gains flying until end of turn. At end of turn, sacrifice it. It deals 2 damage to each creature without flying.
Great ideas and terrible consequences are both spawned from aiming for the skies.

Frenzied Titan
Creature - Giant
Trample
At the beginning of your end step, ~ deals damage equal to its power to another creature or planeswalker chosen at random.
Take comfort in the fact that it's only slightly annoyed.
6/6

Igneous Reply
Instant
~ deals damage to target spells controller equal to the number of tapped lands he or she controls.
Gedrok's argument are painfully hard to deny.

Not feeling it.

Everything is equal when viewed without experience.

Hostile Automaton
Artifact Creature - Construct
Vigilance
~ attacks and blocks each combat if able.
[Attribute]: Living ⊂ [Attribute]: Enemy
4/4

Repugnant Reflection
Sorcery
Put a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of target creature.
Destroy that token.

From wiki:

Quote:
She grew up as a pompous and spoiled rich girl as a result of being the favored child of her father and his prestigious position as the Monégasque Ambassador to France. She was also raised as a Muslim.[3] Shortly after her mother’s mysterious death, her brother Marius, the vampiric mutant known as Emplate, was banished from the St. Croix home. He eventually returned after learning the dark arts and requested that Monet join him in conquering another dimension. She cruelly rejected his offer and after finally having enough of his sister's ridicule, Marius transformed her into a red-skinned, untouchable, mute creature whom he nicknamed Penance. Monet's younger sisters, Nicole and Claudette, heard the commotion and quickly went to her room. When they could not find Monet, they assumed that Marius had killed her. The twins then banished him to another dimension while Monet followed, believing it was her only way to revert to normal.

Afraid their father would break down after the loss of his favorite child, the twin sisters decided to merge bodies and replicate Monet. This version of Monet would have been identical to the original if it were not for Claudette's autism which would sometimes take effect, leaving "Monet" in catatonic stupors.

The twins as M eventually find out that the red thing is their sister and in order to make up for her time in crazyland switch the minds of their combined body with hers.

The only X-men back story that matches it in convolutedness is Psylocke.

Make an X spell with a negative converted mana cost that when played faced down can create a subgame that is similar to a first person shooter, but doesn't rely on players throwing things with their hands, getting up from the table or using an instrument besides their cards.

Enter the Lair (-3)XBB
Sorcery
Each opponent plays a standard subgame against a Challenge deck of your choice. X is the difficulty level of the challenge. At the end of the subgame, each opponent's life total becomes equal to his or her life total in the subgame.
Exile ~.

Evolve is a pretty cool fps.
