What about virginity?

Is a thing, but not a meaningful thing.

From the standpoints of perhaps all current member of this thread. And now I wonder how many lurkers we might have, tuned in to our little soap opera.

Speaking of which, wonder if Venser died a virgin.

He did go through that dark time as a druggie. Maybe he struck gold with a blinkmoth serum hoe before he left for Mirrodin for the last time.

As uncomfortable and questionably appropriate as it is to consider, I would say that he probably never had a relationship.
Knowing what we do of him, and how much of a loner he chose to be, and ultimately what little social exposure he did have, it's a safe bet he likely never even kissed a girl.

Last time I checked, there's really no relationship requirement to pay a hooker to sleep with you.

I might have missed something though.

I'll have to closely scrutinize the canon on this one. I'll reserve judgement for now.

Well, now that I don't have to worry about upsetting Keeper, I can ask this: Why isn't virginity a biological thing? As I have been taught, in human females there is such a thing as a hymen, which is what normally indicates virginity in females. What am I missing from this picture to make it whole?

Because we choose, socially, to put significance on that piece of tissue. Besides that, many girls end up tearing that piece of tissue doing any number of physical activities, but that doesn't indicate that they have had intercourse.

But even then, biologically, it doesn't actually change a thing if that portion of feminine anatomy is whole or not. It doesn't cause any change in how her body works.

He lived in the ass end of a swamp in a hovel made of salvaged phyrexian crap.
He had no money for hookers.

You've seen Breaking Bad right? There were abandoned homes filled with druggies with only drugs, sleep and random sex with each other to pass the time. They had no money either, other than the money they scrounged for and immediately used for more drugs.

No. I have not seen Breaking Bad.

But you're also mistaking the kind of addiction Venser had. And the fact that he would have had any social life at all.
Venser was, to put it nice, a recluse. His personality was pretty repugnant too, to be quite honest, but the point remains that he did not spend time with people. He didn't even live NEAR people.

Oh yes, I must be mistaken. No, I'm not.

Laugh out loud.

Even recluses in desperation will act out of character. Drugs create desperation.

Blinkmoth serum wasn't a pleasure inducing drug. It was an intellect focusing one. It did not create euphoria associated with a high that would drive someone to do something like that, nor was it one to enjoy socially. It was a cranked up version of ritalin.

If you're going to try and hold a conversation, the least you could do is know what the subject matter actually is.

Okay, fair enough.

[...]

Venser wiped the sweat from his brow. He had been searching for parts around the phyrexian wreckage to fix his latest project for hours. He grabbed a serum tube from his pouch. Taking a hit of blinkmoth serum always heightened his senses making him more alert when he was fatigued. It felt good to be focused again.

"Gotta get out of here, it will be dark soon". As he turned around to make haste back toward the direction he had come, he heard a something soft. Something weak.

"...Help ... me."

He looked around. He saw something move in the debris.

"Please help me."

He lifted a mechanized arm from among the ruined area in front of him. It was a Phyrexian with feminine features. His immediate instinct was to run, but he hesitated when she spoke again.

"Please, I didn't ask for this, but I need help now. It's been so long since I felt the warm touch of a man."

Venser knew what he had to do.

He took her in his arms, and carried her to his hovel.

[...]

Swing and a miss, but good effort.
Go hit the showers.

I might have missed, but Venser hit a home run. If you know what I mean.

Haha.

Haha.

You mean he attempted to boink a meat grinder?
Because there certainly wouldn't be anything left to actually facilitate the interaction.

This brings up some interesting questions. Has Barinellos had sex with a phyrexian?

How does he know?

I politely request that you do NOT call me that.
And I know because of the giant bundles of evidence we have regarding how phyrexians view bodily modification and their inability to understand things like gender.

On a different side of this conversation: What do y'all think the standards on sex and and sexual preference are in mtg? It seems that most mtg worlds tend to treat women and men equally, and there was that one reference to a gay couple in theros. And thats very cool, but I tend to find that inequalities in society can be very good plot devices
