So, I have the pages set to show 40 posts, and since this is the 40th reply, I kinda figured I'd also repost all of the designs from the previous page that I've had some fun designing. Don't mind me, just something so I remember what's been done already. I'll probably do this here and there just for the fun of it. Some of the designs have minor tweaks from their original just to update from comments.

Last Few Designs

--------------------------------------

Because, why not do another design with Remembrance. Probably not the best use of the keyword, but I wanted to do something else with it.

Skyshroud Elder --
Creature - Elf
Remembrance (Skyshroud Elder costs less to cast for each card that shares a name with it in all graveyards.)
: Skyshroud Elder gets +1/+1 for each card that shares a name with it in all graveyards.
"The council never weakens, even in death."
1/1

So, this was supposed to be used for small creatures with big abilities, like Elvish Piper that are easily removed with damage. Dunno if it's stupidly overpowered or anything, but I liked the idea.

Greater Reincarnation --
Sorcery
Return target creature card with power 1 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield. Put a number of +1/+1 counters on that creature equal to its converted mana cost.
"A stronger body, but still a great mind."

I like it, but it feels green more than anything.

I was thinking white because of Proclamation of Rebirth and Ranger of Eos, but I can see green as well. What about hybrid?

Anywho, speaking of green, I really have enjoyed the Soviet Centaur design by Flopfoot, and it got me thinking of a fun downside to give creatures.

Crushing Plowbeast --
Creature - Beast
Trample
Unruly (Crushing Plowbeast has protection from you.)
"Unleash only under dire circumstances."
--Warning from Garruk

6/4

You could probably write it without the keyword, just say "Protection from you". Or does that not work since the "you" changes depending on who controls it?

Since you can't block your own creatures, and permanents rarely get attached to other permanents without targeting them first, this is basically just reverse hexproof plus the upside of dodging your own Earthquake effects... in some decks this is pure upside.

It might be more interesting to simply have Reverse hexproof (this can't be the target of spells or abilities you control) and put it on things like evasive creatures that usually really like getting boosted.

@Flopfoot - Yeah, you're probably right..... *sigh*

Also, I had to repost this, because it makes me happy:

Beast With Two Backs --
Creature - Beast
Soulbond (You may pair this creature with another unpaired creature when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as you control both of them.)
As long as Beast With Two Backs is paired with another creature, each of those creatures has ": Put a 1/1 green beast creature token onto the battlefield."
2/2

Eternal Spring
Land
Eternal Spring enters the battlefield tapped.
: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.
: Lose half your life rounded up.
Your power becomes its life.

It's way too easy to break.
Back when modern was revealed but not active yet, I had built a modern BGW deck where this would make me invincible (and probably kill a player) turn one.
Play this...
get three mana (down to 2 life)
Phyrexian Unlife

Now, I have infinite mana on turn one. And that would allow me to kill a player that turn with Reverse the Sands and/or Soul Conduit if I had them.

There is potential in this design, but I think it would be a better start with...

ETB tapped.
: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. You may pay half your life, rounded up. If you do, untap this.

Or simply have the cost be...
Pay half your life rounded up: Untap this. (My personal pick)

The way it's worded, especially with that flavor text, you could say
When you have 0 or less life, sacrifice this.

Better?

Eternal Spring
Land
Eternal Spring enters the battlefield tapped.
: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.
: Eternal Spring deals damage to you equal to half your life rounded up. Untap Eternal Spring.
Your power becomes its life.

Damage can be prevented, and there is also Angel's Grace. The first version would be fine if the untap ability said "activate this ability only once each turn".

By the way, even without a way to untap this, it's already strictly better than a ton of lands like rupture spire, trilands etc since it's just a triland that actually makes five colors. Did you mean for it to not untap during your untap step?

The problem with that, is it doesn't exactly solve the scenario that breaks it.
If I have 0 or less life, the damage it would deal would be zero, or negative; which becomes zero.

I think the only way to remedy this is to use life payment. Because that prevents it from working while at 0 or less life. Which means it can be activated 5 times before you die. 4 times if you are ill-prepared to prevent death.

One thing you could do is simply add poison counters. One thing I had similar to this was it added one, then two, then three etc...

I think the point is to be able to use it multiple times, at an extreme cost.

Another attempt:

Eternal Spring
Land
Eternal Spring enters the battlefield tapped with five charge counters on it.
When there are no charge counters on Eternal Spring, you lose the game.
: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.
Remove a charge counter from Eternal Spring: Untap Eternal Spring.
Your power becomes its life.

Flavor seems green, but I've nominated this just the same.

I didn't really know which color(s) it should be. Humility was white, but Sudden Spoiling and Yixlid Jailer were both black, so since those two were in Modern, it seemed like the color to put them in.

Honestly, I feel both green and black. I think would be appropriate.

It loses so much charm in all the rules text though.

*sigh* This is becoming troublesome.....

Eternal Spring
Land
Eternal Spring enters the battlefield tapped.
: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.
Gain three poison counters: Lose life equal to the number of poison counters on you, then untap Eternal Spring.
Your power becomes its life.

Sorry squinty.
It works, but I think the last one is worded: Lose life equal to the number of poison counters you have, then untap Eternal Spring.
Now...
Why is it called Eternal Spring? :p

On a serious note, is there a secret requirement you are using that is preventing you from simply Paying life? If so, I'll stop suggesting it, but you could go back to one of your earlier designs if you worded it as paying life.

No real requirement, just exploring different options and watching to see how everything gets broken.... oh well, just another failed idea. Still, it was a fun experiment.
