I rewatched Spartacus start to finish for the first time ever since I first saw it in the late 80s. Man does that movie hold up, it’s so good. The acting is insanely good, the side characters are amazing.
Thousands upon thousands of extras to do full battle sequences with proper Roman cohorts advancing in checkered formation, it’s insane the scope of that movie.
I think i've just run into the most tragic online Twitch moment, thought i'd share (warning pretty long)
Spoiler
(Little bit of background, I follow a relatively small channel that was doing a Twitch plays Pokemon run, e.g twitch controls the game by typing in chat, and they were doing a challenge run with permanent death rules)
We were close to finishing the run and a certain mod was WAYYY too into it, genuinely thought they were the sole protagonist, banning people for making "wrong choices" kept trying to make it emote only mode so they would be one of the few able to chat ect, the other mods and the streamer were like "dude chill it's twitch plays pokemon not one dude plays pokemon" ect
(Keep in mind this is a channel with like 30 active chatters so not exactly the big leagues)
At this point i make a decision that shook the worlds very core: I typed "up" in chat
By chance, someone else typed "left" and this combined to unfortunatly, end the run.
I don't think i've seen rage like this since the old Xbox live COD lobbies, i'm getting banned/unbanned so fast in a tug of war between mods, the chat looks like this:
Mod: I'M HAVIGG A PANIC ATTACK
Mod: NIGHTHAWK **** YOU YOU RUINED EVERYTHING
Mod: I CAN'T BREATH
(many more messages like this)
I'm sitting drinking tea in quiet amazement as this unfolds, the other mods are begging the streamer to ban this dude, i tactically decide that typing "oops my bad lol" would be the most triggering thing to type, i was correct and the abuse intensified until finally streamer gives this guy a ban to cool off and all was well.
...Until this guy starts spamming multiple messages on my ******* youtube channel, bizarrely on vids from like 2017
"YOU ARE A ***** NIGHTHAWK I PUT SO MUCH ******* EFFORT INTO THIS RUN
"I AM REPORTING BOTH YOUR TWITCH AND YOUTUBE CHANNELS FOR HARASSMENT, I DONATED SO MANY SUBS AND YOU RUINED IT"
ect
And my personal favourite "MTG IS A PUSS GAME" (You wound me sir)
Please keep in mind, this is because i typed "up" in a niche pokemon challange channel.
I was tempted to bait him more at this point, but he definitely seemed deranged enough to catch a flight so i just quietly blocked him
I suppose the point of telling you guys this is is that if i'm beheaded in a freak accident please tell the police i didn't trip onto a pokemon themed battleaxe

This **** is so hilarious you can't even make it up.
WNBA will be opening the season with a matchup between the Pheonix Mercury and LA Sparks this year on May 19th. They will be able to capitalize on the Griner controversy by having her in the opening game available everywhere on ESPN and ABC.
At 11pm ET.
Why do they do this to themselves? Scheduling is everything for live sports and they just keep dropping the ball.

Because, if there is any other sporting event, at all, on at the same time - even with the Griner controversy - nobody will watch. I'm not trying to be a jerk, btw, this is just my honest opinion on the reality of WNBA viewership. ABC was probably also thinking that they shouldn't interrupt their regular, prime-time, programming, even for this. They are probably right.
