As for our problems, I agree that they don't begin and end with Trump. But that said, had he succeeded we would have completely new problems right now - for example: an unelected President who would stay in power until he dies, and then pass power to his kids. There's a term for that -> Dictator.

I get there’s a difference I just don’t believe the threat of success was real. A gaggle of people went to the capital to protest results, a portion of disorganized goons stormed the capital building, getting 4 of them killed (1 shot, 2 heart attacks, 1 overdose) and 1 capital officer having his later suicide attributed to a head injury he suffered in the chaos. I don’t believe they had any chance of success, and think the military would have made short work of them if it had gotten that far.

Screw those idiots. Deserved all the charges participants received as a result. Embarrassing stain on GOP being in any way connected to them. Tossed any Law and Order high ground in the trash can. But I think it’s hyperbolic to compare it to 9/11 or treat it as if it American democracy almost fell that day. Trump has successfully demonstrated that a President is effectively above the law, kind-of even after leaving office; and he has basically shattered the myth of functioning checks and balances between branches of the federal government.

Elon Musk comes across the same as Donald Trump; except less sexual felonies and more business successes. He’s got the same narcissistic angle going.

It’s very obvious Elon Musk considers “free speech” to be speech he likes or doesn’t mind. The past week has been plastered with tales of him acting like a Trump-level man-child bc he didn’t like something a critic, reviewer, customer, etc. said.

Edit: If Trump wants to run in 2024, and he is actually allowed to get back on, Trump will get back on Twitter.

That’s just how the Presidential campaign will work. There are only three things that will stop this:

1. Trump actually goes to jail.
2. Trump dies beforehand.

Does the foreign exclusion clause affect the Vice President? I thought it was only the President that had to be a natural citizen

Same requirements as president... 35, citizen, natural born, etc. (although, I'd readily admit that 1) I had to look it up, and 2) it wasn't immediately found).

In the event of a succession, supposing for example that the speaker of the House (who doesn't have that requirement) isn't natural born or wasn't old enough or something, they'd just be skipped (not that this would likely ever happen).
