i'm sure they sign a ton of waivers.

It's not a comfortable ride though so old people should have issues with all that weight on your chest.

An aircraft can make an emergency landing attempt if something goes wrong; and aircraft don’t generally need extensive heat shielding to avoid burning up.

Spacecraft can’t afford any errors. It’s at the point where at least 3 of the 5 onboard computers have ti be able to agree for the darn thing to even get off the ground.

Waivers don’t always stand up in court when gross negligence is involved.

I’m making the assumption that this is going to be a capitalistic endeavor where the company trues to cut costs.

Entire thing is one big Ego.

I cant speak for everyone but I think it's kind of cool. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was growing up. We lived in southern Texas in the 80s so my parents took me down there to see a few rockets take off when i was 2 and 3. They said ever since then I wanted to be an astronaut. That's not what ended up happening but theres still a little bit of 3 year old me that wants to go to space. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed though. I knew Shatner was going but not when. My local tv station went to it live and stuck with the 10 minute or so flight. I dont even watch local news when I'm not at work so it was just a 50/50 chance I was going to see it.

They say its safer than an airplane due to all of the redundancy in the safety features.

I can’t imagine it being safer than an airline given the zero regulatory oversight

I agree with everything you said Sixty. I think it’s cool too

You want to bet if he's going to have a bowel movement in space?

That my friend would be a captain's log.

Postal workers in Memphis are getting tired of the new terms Active Shooter and Domestic Terrorist. They're re-claiming their spot at the top and looking to bring back the age-old Going Postal.

I have to hand it to Bezos: He's invented the most expensive, and environmentally damaging roller coaster ride of all time. He should be proud.

As an aside, I played a lot of Kerbal Space Program (KSP - it's fun btw, and I highly recommend it, especially if you have kids who are interested in STEM). One of the best ways to make money in KSP is tourism; a fact that is now reflected in reality. Hilariously, the technology required to do space tourism (the way Bezos is selling it) comes about an hour into play, or put another way: roughly 1970s technology at best.

My son is what I believe to be a literal genius anyway and with that being said he has really anchored onto Kerbal since I got us the expanded version. He learned how to calculate and execute delta vee like three months ago and now he has space stations and other amazing things in orbit along with going to the Moon and Mars numerous times.

I was trying to do the final boss of a game in a PUG today.

The other three players were a three-man group of scrubs.

The short version of this story is that they were so bad at the fight that I physically couldn’t tell they were participating; and this made them mad at me.

———

Now here’s the long version:

I was doing so much damage solo compared to the combined damage of all three of them that I actually asked if they understood how the fight worked and if they were shooting the giant red weak points, because I literally could not tell if they were doing damage or not. My attacks were chunking off 2-3% of the health bar per burst, and otherwise it didn’t seem to be moving.

They did not take kindly to this line of inquiry. They certainly did not take kindly to the natural follow up question of what weapons and perks were they running.

This was not meant to make fun of them or anything. I was genuinely trying to offer advice because they were getting extremely tilted and starting to cuss each other and me out.

But they did the absolute stupidest worst thing they could possibly do in that situation: they called me a liar and asked me to prove otherwise.

The **** up there is that it’s extremely easy to prove otherwise. It took me a five minute demonstration. Upon the conclusion of which they gloriously self-destructed into infighting the likes of which I’ve not seen since the last time I played Monopoly irl. … I had received so much verbal abuse by this point that I thoroughly enjoyed the show. By the end of it two of them had left entirely while I gave the 3rd one my build bc they decided to ask nicely once their friends were gone.

I didn't know the expanded version included our solar system.....thought it just had mun and other planets like that.

There are mods for that, but I’d assume he just means the equivalent planets.

Some of the craziest mods (read hardest) impose real levels of gravity. I’ve never played around with that, but I bet it’s pretty cool.
