Well done, nice effort

It's funny seeing them like this, I hate to say but it screams vanilla =\

Aside from the useless vanilla creatures, honor of the pure is just boring to me, same with the rare dual lands. I appreciate the value of the lands, but if there is a cap on total rares, I don't want them wasted here.

I wonder if I'm screaming vanilla too early, but it's just funny how we never usedthraben purebloods and now yay we get great hart?

I imagine the white stuff here is some kind of Gideon based starter deck since we have seen pics of Gideon, plus they're very Gideony/Therosy, I also thought that maybe the packs are split into packs based on the 5 planeswalkers and you get mostly white cards from Gideon packs for example.

Right... So based on these cards, and the expectation of rarity restrictions (again). I'll go ahead and predict the META right now. White Weanies will dominate, exactly as this year, with the possibility of the power deck being either WG or RW tokens, or board flood/domination style decks.

I just wanted to go on record early. Here's to hoping I'm wrong.

There are no common/uncommon board wipes, so while control will always be an option - perhaps even high tier option - it will never be able to compete with the spike, mostly common, weanie concepts.

I'm looking forward to breaking this game within the first week or so.

This is the starter set of what is apperantly a long ongoing platform. It would make sense to start up with more of the basic vanilla cards and then take it from there.

Also I don't think there's a restriction on how many rares you can play, just the same individual rarity restrictions that were in D15.

Also good effort Harbinger, it will be good to have the cards collected as we get more info.

Edit: Sorry, but trying to predict the meta from these few cards when we know next to nothing about the overall pool or even the game at this point, is idiotic.

I'm going to go on a limb here and say that DJ worded it poorly in regards to the wipes. XD

I can't wait for that first week when motivated builders like DJ come up with what they see as broken decks. I love those initial rushes, it's great fun

Hey now... Great Hart is an elk and that's gotta stand for something! It's too bad the Elk creature type isn't strong enough to make a tribal theme or you know I totally would!

I am sure you could through some Chimney Imps a Storm Crow or two, may be Bob could even make an appearance and make it a broken deck.

Glimmerpoint Stag and Great Sable Stag wouldn't hurt either. i would even take Burnished Hart.

How else is Wizards suppose to entice you to pay to speed up the upgrade of your deck? Imagine the pain, eh fun, of grinding through against fancy decks with only vanilla creatures like Great Hart

I'm very weary of how people may think the Hearthstone model on Origins would be so great. Execution (what cards they start you with& against you) makes all the difference.

Beat me on the Sable Stag! I'd also take Golden Hind but I doubt this game series will ever get into a mana pool/ floating mana.

No but seriously, I still stand by my rough expectation/prediction. I seriously doubt we'll see any common or uncommon board wipes, which is what I meant to say. I sincerely hope I am wrong, but I expect 2016 to be very similar to 2015, only much more expensive if you want to enjoy it.

That said, if they do it right, it will be the best DotP by far, so fingers crossed.

Edit: Damn.. I should probably read the rest of the thread first.

If Bob shows up it's almost always a broken deck or the worst deck ever.

@DJ, I have a competing prediction.

The starter decks are going to suck. HARD. And you will not be able to do multiplayer with them. ..... Realistically. It's also going to take long enough to get a good deck that if you want to realistically do well in multiplayer, you are going to have to spend money. BUT, it will be "free to play". And there will be good cards to be had.

Fair enough mjack... I can see that too.

Wonder if unlocking cards will require internet activity; that alone could break the game for me. I mostly play DotP on planes. If I need internet, the game, for me, is worthless. I just got back yesterday from a 20+ hr trip, during which I made a deck from scratch for every mono-color and dual color available - literally deleted my library and started over with everything, and it was lots of fun to do. You can't do that if you need to be connected to play.

I guess I could potentially unlock cards online before travel, but that just doesn't sound likely to me, given my consistent play habits.

One of the articles mentioned getting gold from even the tutorials so no worries on whether you need to fight online to unlock cards or not, at least assuming this is true but it would make sense since duels has allowed you to unlock cards against AI before.

Man, I really hope so, because I completely rely on DotP to get me through the tedium of long trips where I don't have internet on the planes, and have crap internet at the hotels, etc... It's really a life saver for me. It's pretty much my go-to entertainment for when I'm not working, or too tired to work while traveling.

The reason I'm worried - and btw the reason I don't play Hearthstone - is that if they are following the Hearthstone model, they will require online play for the purpose of generating "gold" in order to unlock cards. This also ads to the incentive to pay-to-play, so it's probably a good model from WotC's perspective. It's just that it leaves me out in the cold.

None of this should be taken as a critique of the game (because none of this implies that the game would be bad), and most of this is pretty unique to me. I'm not even sure why I'm worried about it, or expressing my concerns here. Sorry about that guys.

I watched the paxeast stream and they confirm that the exact 5 planeswalkers in paper origins will be in duels origins so that means we can link the double faced Liliana as confirmed to be in the game.

Also took this pic from the vid:
