This is a huge leak if it's real, and there's enough content here to make me think it is. It's the entire release notes, which means every mechanic in the set is spoiled along with most of the cards. This is the worst leak since New Phyrexia, and I wonder how they'll deal with it.

With the Ixalan leak, they added all the leaked cards to the official gallery, but what do they do here? Just give us the whole set early and skip preview season? Or will they hold off and make us wait for the actual card images? Either way, this is kind of a disaster for WotC.

WotC's official response: https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/a ... 2018-03-08

Basically, they're giving us the official English release notes now, but holding off on images until later. We're getting some earlier-than-planned preview articles next week, including the mechanics article.

I gotta say I don't know if I like this implementation of Legendary Sorceries but I like that they're Sorcery specific

I feel like Magic templating has done a loop around where they really tightened up on rules and wording as a part of that, and in past years, they've started relaxing and now they're kind of back to Alpha style. Still very consistent and relying on a steadier rules foundation, but it's interesting.

They seem pretty powerful for the cost then. Btw it looks like about half the set has been spoiled (roughly 140 cards in this doc) which makes it feel like the other half of the set has a fair bit of work to do to support the mechanics and give us the rest of the characters

Man those Chinese MTG cards have some pretty sweet abilities. I think.

I was expecting a legendary theme. A legend in every booster is a nice plus.
she/he -> they. About dang time. This is going to clear up a lot of text space at 0 clarity cost.
"Add " - Yeah, I think people will get it.
The original planeswalker card pitch has become an enchantment type? I was actually thinking about something like this not long ago.
LEgendary sorceries are awkward. I guess they wanted the type on the card for keyword-matters purposes. Might be worth it, but dang it's ugly.

Bad Knight seems ok to me. He's got a new (and inevitably better) form of protection, and first strike on a bear. Remember when a 1B 2/2 was controversial? Now they're calling black bears+ "bad".

Tevish Szat's hypothetical Jodah was pretty close to the real thing.

Honestly I'm always for shortening that doesn't impact clarity and I feel that both those changes do exactly that so I'm supportive.

Not a fan of the Jhoira, I feel she should've been a more interesting and specific Artifact commander and not just "Hey build a deck to draw a lot."

I'm ecstatic that they finally gave her the appropriate typeline at least.

I mean, not really. The real one is a 4/3 flying Fist of the Suns. I guess they both have WUBRG interactions and similar statlines but I would feel more "on base" if the real Jodah had possessed a Historical interaction.

Exciting to me: The sagas! God damn. I tried to make "Saga" enchantments in Aralheim that were more common "growing" enchantments, but these feel really good, and touch on a lot of Dominaria's great stories (And some not so great, but they're still part of the plane's history)

I dislike legendary sorceries; they have absolutely nothing in common with actual legendary permanents but are legendary because they simply had to have legendary sorceries.

I also hate the burn change. My prefered solution would have been to do away with the redirection rule without errata and print a Lightning Strike that also hits walkers im this set. This errata will be massive and inconsistent and made worse by the decision to keep printing new "creature or player" burn.

Sagas are great, I'm glad they are going back to 1cmc dorks, legendary frame is a neat idea depending on how it actually looks, blending protection and hexproof is nice even if "hexproof from black" reads really awkwardly and a lot of individual cards there look interesting to play.

I suspect that the two cards that have creature or player burn were printed early and it was too late to change them, and there won't be any more after those
