I feel like intentionally starting/joining cults is by definition anti-town.

Also, I'm Yellow. Presumably not by accident.

On a more valuable note, given that (final) voting in this game is conducted via PM, how do we feel about committing to our votes in-thread? Given that town outnumbers scum, it's probably more advantageous to town to organize voting publicly than it is for scum to know ahead of time how the votes might fall.

aren't votes revealed at the end anyway?

although if you're saying about the process then sure, putting votes in thread might be good to increase vote transparency

I mean the process specifically, in order to cut down on shenanigans. If we know who is voting for whom, then we can compromise to work around unfavorable lynches. Also, we can hold players to account if their ultimate listed vote does not track with their declared intentions.

I am Orange, and I could consider joining the Rag-cult, but I'd rather wait until we have literally any info before I commit.

Also, I don't much care how people spell my username, and no special consideration will be given to those who spell it right (or those who spell it wrong, for that matter).

I'm Red, and I'm not interested in a Rag-Cult.

Rag-cult becomes meaningless if everyone joins, anyway.

Well they weren't randomly assigned if that's what you were originally thinking. Although once I got down to the bottom of the pot they did become less associative out of necessity.

The jury is still out on that, actually.

In my experience, forming a Rag-Cult (defined as being an organized attempt of a subset of players working together to solve the game, ostensibly to the singular benefit of Town) has usually worked in Town's favor, because it unifies Town players toward a singular goal (one they should be unified toward anyway), and forcing non-Town players who decide to join to be accountable for their actions.

The Rag-Cult in Deku's Shadow game enormously benefited Town (admittedly mostly because of a certain Cop who operated outside the cult but cooperated with it, but still). That's just one recent example of how a Rag-Cult helped lead to a Town victory.

You asking people to agree to vote publically isn't all that different from me initiating a Rag-Cult... We're both asking people to form an agreement to cooperate in a game where cooperation isn't a given.

voting blocs have had a place in mafia strategy for a long time and they are probably pro-town overall i would guess. The original rag cult was basically just an overly complex voting bloc.

I'm not comfortable joining zinger's rag cult unless the conditions for joining are more formalized than "the players will work together to solve the game". I feel like thats basically already more or less the baseline in mafia. Everyone in thread is working together to solve the game, and mafia are pretending to. I guess the idea idea behind zinger's rag cult is that players will try to solve by being suspicious of players outside the group before looking within, but its such a wuzzy thing that it leaves me feeling uncomfortable being a part of it.

That's fair. I guess I should cement the rules of this Rag-Cult. I was taking it for granted that everyone knew more or less what a Rag-Cult was.

The Rag-Cult Rules (of this version):
  1. Members agree not to vote for each other or to use negative abilities against each other.
  2. Any member can call for a mass vote against a specific non-member. If the majority of members agree with the proposition, all members must vote that player.
  3. Any member found to have broken rules 1 or 2 is first given a warning, and if it happens twice they are exiled from the Cult and remaining members must Vig that player if possible at the earliest convenience, or lynch that player if not.

That seems more or less good enough for now. I may amend those rules down the road, but if I do it won't be without the consent of the majority of the Cult.

Kindof strange to start a voting bloc so early. I don't feel comfortable joining under your rules since the game has basically just started and you're asking people to commit to not voting for you without really knowing anything. I'm not against working with a potential bloc, but I'm not looking to join one without more information.

I also understand that rag cult is a meme so I don't think it's necessary alignment indicative, just doesn't seem like a good idea.

I feel like there needs to be an escape clause in case there is a strong suspicion against a member of the cult. Perhaps just a rule that if a majority of members demand it, the cult can be immediately dissolved? That would make me more likely to join.

That seems counterintuitive to the whole point of the cult.

Anyway, if there is anyone that needs to be sused, it truly is Rag.

Keep the memes memes.
