Hey guys, I've REALLY missed you all lately. I have been in a not-so-great mental state lately (largely chemical; I have NOT slept well the last two weeks or so since winter decided to finally come to Texas) and I've really been noticing your absence in my life. I hope to rectify that in the coming days/weeks.

I'm sending you some virtual hugs from California, please apply them as needed and inform me if you need a refill.

And my life, while we're discussing it, is finally coming back into a normal shape. Things have been out of the ordinary since Thanksgiving for me and it's all led to a higher degree of stress in my life. It's burnt through my normal energy rations a lot quicker.

Good to hear! Hope things get even better with you in time.

Thanks. That put a particular smile on my face since I feel we've not known each other for all that long. If and when I find myself out in California, I'd love to meet you and Tevish both. Then we can exchange non-virtual hugs!

EDIT: also, because I just watched it: < 3000. You wrote > 3000.

yeah I know... if that's the worst mistake I made, though, I'm pretty happy with it.

I had some apple brandy for an after-dinner drink, and it made me feel very, very Thorneau. :D

I figured I'd pop in to say that Card Of The Year voting's started over in the YMTC forum and you should all head over there and vote to show your support for intraNGA co-operation and/or so people don't think y'all are scrubs.
I think that covers either end of the case nicely. Vote away!

Excellent! A sample size! Huey, were you able to see what I had written without coming into the thread? I thought I remembered somebody saying that some browsers preview a post from the thread or something, and I don't know if that's the case or if it works when something is hidden. Luna, same question, only for Huey's post, obviously.

Uh... I have thread previews turned off.

And because of reasons, I don't click thread titles when I'm not logged in.

I have thread previews on, but for me it only ever previews the first post in the thread, not the most recent. I just wanted to verify if that's universally true or not.

So, I find myself writing creatively again, only... it's a D&D style campaign world. I say D&D style because I don't really like the d20 system and when I run a campaign again it's probably going to be with the Storyteller system (of Vampire: the Masquerade fame) which I've become enamored with as of late.

I've been inspired by D&D blogs such as Goblin punch with a high weirdness factor, so I've been going weird with my world. High Elves live on one of the moons. Owls are not birds. (A lot of concepts I'm flat-out stealing from Goblin Punch, honestly.) Minotaurs keep the Gates of Hell. Gold is a physical manifestation of magic. Dragons' sizes are related to their hoards. Birds of prey never stop growing. Doppelgangers hate mimics for making people fearful of shapeshifters.

I actually find this a really engaging exercise, though for several reasons I can't post it to the M:EM. I'll probably post it down in the Creative Corner when I've gotten some more concrete entries (right now I've got placeholder "%name" everywhere), just to share it with people.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, and I will be sparse for another week or so due to meatspace needs. I will do what I can to up my participation in February. Miss this community, but I'm with my real life community right now, and I need to be present with them in the short time I have here.

I know, it's been weird for me bouncing around a bunch of RPG blogs and finding your comments here and there.

It means you've been going to the right blogs.

:D

God, I love that moment. :D

And I did end up buying a whole bottle of calvados, ironically enough! I tried, like, the 3 nearest wine stores trying to find any, to no avail, only to discover that they had some at Trader Joe's, of all places. So now apple brandy lives on the sideboard, and is firmly ensconced in the after-dinner drink rotation.

Hello friends!

There will hopefully be some changes in the backend software for the site in a couple of weeks, and that means that I'm going around and determining which parts of the site actually get used. Looking at the wiki, I see that the last change was on January 16, 2017 -- more than a year ago!

And so I ask: does anybody use the wiki anymore? Would you be sad if it disappeared tomorrow?

Just to be clear, I'd be more than happy to preserve it! But if it doesn't get used, things would be slightly simpler if I didn't have to worry about it.

Thanks for the input!

I know I'm behind (and haven't been around as much in general; projects every which-way), but I actually do use the wiki's existing data for quick reference. I also feel like the story info boxes are really handy.
