Lemonade is truly one of the greatest creations of our species.

Update: I did in fact get the lemonade. My body is a-flush with adrenaline. Take that, Exchange Food Court!

Hello. I am Rio, aka Ragrio. I am not currently a voting member of the M:EM... yet... :shifty:. But I am working on my own plane and planeswalker right now, so soon I will be infiltrating your ranks. *Disappears into shadows* :incognito:

So, I've been thinking, guys (and gals)(and various amorphous creatures and deities). Where would you all put an archival thread of that "most common mistakes of writers" thing Tevish made back on the mothership? I still think it would be immensely useful here, but I don't know if it would actually belong here.

I remember that, that was a good thread.

I say put it here, and maybe promote it elsewhere.

Seconded.

People who make the questionable life choice to wade through my assorted ramblings (my condolences) will know that I love Elmore Leonard; the mention of writing mistakes reminds me of this funny little anecdote from a good article I read recently about Leonard's Detroit novels:

Quote:
“One time when we did a book tour together, I found this book at Barnes & Noble, and the first line was ‘The wind howled like a beast in pain,’” Peter [Leonard] tells me. “So Elmore walks in, lights his cigarette, drinks his drink from his stem goblet, and I read the line, and he says, ‘Never open a book from the wind’s point of view.’ When he gave you advice on something, he wasn’t even thinking. It just came out.”

So, just to keep it straight in my head what I'm working on...

In progress:
Shadows
Wild Card

In planning stages:
The MEM Zendikar anthology
Maybe the MEM timeline if someone is willing to help me here

In the distance:
Free Will
Space: The Convergence

I am intrigued by these titles.

Wait... Shadows... isn't that the Zhiran story? Are you picking that back up again?

Once I make it to the weekend (and make it back to Pennsyltucky) I'll have time to lend a hand on the timeline.

One section left. It's nearly complete.

@OL: I was at Salt Lake Comic Con, and I don't mind you asking at all. It was pretty fun. A lot of walking. I'm not really built for that much walking. T_T

I hope you got some good swag!

Mucho exciting.

You'll... likely have to play a bit of catch up with the other stories connected to it.

Alrighty, I'll add "posting a most common mistakes of writers archive thread" to the list of things I actually should be doing around here.

EDIT: I'd like to correct myself: it appears that the thread was originally posted/conceived by Dilleux Lepaire. It is also much easier than I expected because I already saved a .doc of the thread; I just need to convert it into a readable format to post.

Damn Luna you're so on the ball that you've mistaken it for a flat plane! o_o

EDIT: Also I totally forgot about Dilleux Lepaire.

To be fair, it was part of my "OMG ABSNDON SHIP SAVE EVERYTHING THE WORLD IS GOING TO END" plan when you got banned because of he-who-shall-not-be-named.

Also on that list was Raven's Poetry Plane and... *checks* willpell's color wheel thread and some Jakkardian art. This in addition to the obvious "all of the M:EM."

You saved my poetry plane? I'm genuinely touched, Luna! I save everything I write in about three or four different places, but it's nice to know you've got my back!

You truly are an incredible person, Luna o_o

I don't think I've ever met anyone more dedicated to preserving information. I really admire that.

D'awww, shucks. Y'all are makin' me blush.

I'd like to point out that said saves were part of "Wave 1 mass-save panic attack" on the mothership. I believe there was a "Wave 2" between then and the Great White Death, but I can't recall.

I guess we can admire each other, then, Keeper. Part of what draws me to you is how much importance you put on information preservation.

I am always slightly hurt when I see information deleted in some way or another. Books are almost holy to me -- I can't even bring myself to highlight in a textbook or fold a corner to mark a page. When google rolled its facebook competitor into youtube, my biggest problem was that all the previously linked comments were suddenly scattered like so many loose pages in the wind. I always feel like I missed out on great things whenever I'm reminded that H8_Seed deleted most of his work and put a stop to it. Seeing creative works crushed under copyright-crazed organizations makes me lament for the works not being there anymore, not for the creative stagnation it represents (not to say I don't feel the latter, just that the former is the priority).

Actually, a lot of what keeps me up far later than what I should be is the desire to know more, to hear more, to see more, to absorb more of the interwebz into my brain. My main reason for wanting to become immortal is so that I can keep learning and experiencing. It is also, unfortunately, why I detest the idea of devoting (what should be) 1/2 of my waking hours to work or school or whathaveyou. Definitely in my top 5 reasons why I hate driving anywhere.

No wonder you guys seem to like Denner Fabellian!

Though I will say, I'm the same way. I suppose that's natural as an educator, but I've pretty much always been a "learner." Ignorance to me is very much not bliss.

I had always kind of assumed this kind of thing just came with the territory of being a nerd/geek/dork.
