Roses of Paliano is a tongue-in-cheek summer release intended to be played in Two-Headed Giant Sealed: two players open eight packs together, then build two complementary decks from the same pool and play as a two-person team. The theme of the set is love, specifically Renaissance Italian flavored love, which has never really been explored by mainstream Magic (probably for good reason). It's set on the plane of Paliano, which we last visited in 2014's summer product Conspiracy.
Shared bond is the flagship mechanic of Roses, allowing you to pair your creatures together in courtship and matrimony. It's exactly the same as soulbond from Avacyn Restored, but with two important differences: pairing triggers off gaining control of a creature, and a creature can bond with any other creature from the same team. In other words, you can pair your shared bond creatures with your teammates' creatures, and vice versa! On top of that, Roses breaks the design space of pairing wide open: paired creatures interact with each other in new ways, such as asymmetrical bonuses or abilities triggering off being paired or unpaired. This enables new team strategies that let you and your partner battle as a seamless duo!
Rules clarifications
As long one of the creatures in a pair has shared bond, the pair doesn't break when a teammate controls one of the paired creatures. This means that you can pair a soulbond creature with a creature with shared bond a teammate controls, and a teammate can gain control of your soulbond creature if it's paired with a creature with shared bond you control. They continue to grant all the associated benefits from being paired.
Some effects might "force a pair" between two creatures. This means if you can't pair those creatures because one or more of them is in a pair, you unpair the offending creatures before pairing them together. (If an already paired creature can still be paired for some reason, such as Brazen Libertine's ability, you don't unpair it.) Forcing a pair between two creatures has no effect if they're already paired.
Accord is a new keyword that allows you to share cards with your allies. It codifies the Imperial Mask ability: when a nontoken permanent with accord enters the battlefield, each of its controller's teammates puts a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of it. As you'll see, you can use accord to bequeath a wide variety of creatures, artifacts, and enchantments to your teammates. An accord checklist card also appears in packs to help you keep track of tokens that were accorded to you. Join forces with your teammate to get the advantage neither of you could achieve alone!

The idea had been floating around in my head since I started work on Fool's Gold. I started actually making cards and defining the environment around August 2014.
Perfect originality is overrated and often ugly. The best and most beautiful cards I've ever seen were clearly inspired by something else. Cards are not entirely unlike living organisms in this regard. All the good ones are a result of long evolution; the 'original' ones are either mono-cellular or mutant aberrations.

Bump for comments and criticism. I understand that 214 cards is a lot to take in, but if you have the time to spare to skim over my project of a few months in the making, I would appreciate it very much.
Green bodies seem really small at common. Green usually gets bigger bodies on average than other colours at common, especially at midrange cmcs. Green bodies seem really small at common. Green usually gets bigger bodies on average than other colours at common, especially at midrange cmcs. I'd be happier seeing less tricks and bigger bodies in that area.
One of the rules of the set was every creature has to make sense as a possible romantic partner with every other creature (with the exception of Yoked Ox, because it's funny). In practice, this means the creature has to be sapient and humanoid, so I couldn't make large green creatures that might be Wurms or Beasts in other sets. It also doesn't make sense to have a lot of creatures that are individually large, since romantic comedies and love stories rarely feature giant monsters.
I tried my best to find workarounds, of course. The printed P/T on the green commons is small, but they can get very large virtual P/T. Village Stoutheart can be 4/4. Childhood Friend makes something else into a 4/4. Retired Champion is almost always 6/6, the largest common creature in the set. Make sure to take that into account when considering the P/T of green commons in Roses of Paliano.
Another rule of Roses of Paliano was that I wanted the format to showcase the relationships between creatures rather than the creatures themselves. This is why I pushed combat tricks and shared bond in the set. Since the theme of green is paired creatures, it makes sense to have fewer individually large creatures but more cards that improve with the number of creatures you have.
I also don't know if you want two fog variants at common.
I think it's alright. It isn't going to break Limited, and all of the Fogs have different flavor. I also like that the set themed around love has many ways to protect you and your partner.
It's a riff on Ulvenwald Tracker. I agree that it mechanically could be red. Green needed a powerful small creature at rare though, and none of the parts are out of green's color pie, so I decided to give the card to green.
