*"To YMTC it up" means to design cards that have value mostly from a design perspective. i.e. you would put them in a case under glass in your living room and visitors could remark upon the wonderful design principles, with nobody ever worring if the cards are annoying/pointless/confusing in actual play

the only clip of alex jones i've really seem is him having an emotional breakdown recounting the existence of frog-human hybrids screaming to be put out of their mystery while floating in vats of mysterious liquid
I think they've nerfed Gatherer again. Under format you can't search for block constructed anymore. Makes searching for cards within a block a real pain. I can get why the "real" formats are more important, but can't we get a list of blocks on the advanced search page? Either list them underneath the other formats in the format search or in a block search option by the set search.
Man, somebody at WOTC must really have it out for GAtherer.
It's a money-costing service that can be replicated by third parties.
Kind of like having a company forum. If you realized that you were spending money running a forum that could be replicated by third parties, you might repeatedly "upgrade" it until it was garbage nobody wanted to use, and then disband it because nobody uses it.
Pro Tour: YMTC: SECOND ONE IS OVER STAY TUNED FOR THIRD ONE The BLOCK I'm currently pretending I'll finish:Fleets Of Ossia (complete!) | Wavebreak (complete!) | The Second Flood (in progress!) Razorborne and friends teach music theory to chumps like you:12tone

Do any of you folks play MTG Arena? They just added direct challenge so we can fight each other.
Feel free to challenge me. My username and number are Libe#02639.
I can do that! My Arena username is also UselessCommon. Question 1: What are your active hours on Arena? Question 2: Should I bring my fun decks or my best deck?
In the evenings, usually. I typically play more mainstream, "competitive" decks, but that's just because I usually play ladder and want to earn my bonuses.
For direct challenge, I'll probably whip out something a bit jankier.

Evenings where?
I live in GMT+3, so our evenings might be simultaneous OR very much not.

But Libe, your post is timestamped 4:07pm! Looks like you guys are 8 hours apart.
I had to explain to a customer at work today that taking is toddler through an active warehouse was probably not as good an idea as checking next door. The guy was not impressed.

I know just what this thread needs! Embarrassing details! I've just posted some of my very first MTG designs and I'm curious to see what everybody else's look like.
I'm making this post from a very dark place- the distant past. Also I'm using a trackpad instead of a mouse so that's kind of a bad situation that- anyways, I was scanning some old notes and came across some of the first Magic cards I ever designed. These are probably from about 2009 when Zendikar came out. Anybody know how close that was to when I joined the forums? What can I say, some of us are born geniuses, and others like me have to hunt them down and suck the genius out of their brains for our own use.* Below are... cards. They are definitely cards.
The First Guardian (Yes, that is the order of the mana symbols) Creature - Human monk Vigilance This card does not untap during your untap phase. 1/2 I am but the beginning of what is to come.
The 2nd Guardian Creature - Human Monk You may cast ~ by sacrificing a creature named The First Guardian and paying .
The Last Guardian :sound of barfing: Creature - Human Monk Vigilance, Shroud You may cast ~ by sacrificing a creature named The Second Guardian and paying When this card leaves the battlefield, you may put a card named The First Guardian onto the battlefield from your graveyard. 5/6
There are more cards in the pictures, but I can't bear to type them out.
WARNING large images
You know, I don't even hate Cleaver of the Harmonious. I mean, it's trash, but I don't hate it.

The oldest one I can remember was this:
Karmatog - Creature - Atog Counter a spell you control: Karmatog gets +2/+2 until end of turn. "That thing ate my destiny!" - Elurion, ex-hero. 2/2
That was before we had a dedicated YMTC subforum - I think I posted it in some Terisia City thread.
Here's an early one of mine as best as I can remember it. I think my actual first card was a magnetic goblin that made things target it or stole attachments from other creatures. These were on the mothership in 2008. Though back in 1999 when I first sort of learned to play, I made some cards out of paper that weren't meant to be original, just basic effects like Giant Strength so I could teach people the game without having real cards.
Antiwrath Triple Striker - Creature Double strike Whenever ~ becomes blocked, it deals damage equal to its power to target creature that's blocking it. Whenever ~ blocks, it deals damage equal to its power to target creature it's blocking. When ~ dies, if you control no other creatures, return it from your graveyard to the battlefield. 2/2
Edit - this can't be right because it's not dealing triple damage if it goes through unblocked. I don't remember how I addressed that unless I had another ability. I'm not sure if the anti wrath ability had a delay to prevent people from exploiting it with sacrifice effects. Probably not

That's basically just Nivmagus Elemental. Not nearly embarrassing enough.
