To escape the chopping block, your cards must be cohesive, interesting, and flavorful!
Each round will consist of a number of criteria and a lesser number of cards to made. Each contestant must use every criteria, but not necessarily in equal amounts on each card. Submissions are due at 4PM MST each Saturday, grades and the next round's criteria will be posted at that same time. At the end of each round, the bottom 1/4 of scoring contestants will be eliminated, rounded to the nearest number. The final round will be graded, then each surviving contestant's cumulative grades will be compared to choose a winner.
If you have questions about whether or not something fits the criteria during any round, merely write an explanation why you think what you made does. Provided the explanation is not too absurd and/or gaming the system, I'll allow it. That said, I will be available at least once a day to provide clarifications. In your submission, please indicate which criteria are fulfilled by which card. If you wish to accompany your cards with notes regarding them, that is welcome and in keeping with how the reality TV show operates. Don't feel pressured to do so, if you don't want to.
Now that all that is out of the way, let's get started.
Round 1
Make 2 cards that together satisfy these criteria: * A once commonplace item now rare * Is a creature that has a repeatable instant or sorcery spell effect (Spellshapers, Kamahl, Fist of Krosa, etc) * Related to astrology/astronomy * Uses exile
- Common, now Rare - Creature with repeatable instant or sorcery spell effect.
Lord of Pestilence | Creature - Zombie Wizard | {R} When there are no other creatures on the battlefield, sacrifice Lord of Pestilence. : Lord of Pestilence deals 1 damage to each creature and each player. [4/4]
- Related to Astrology/Astronomy - Uses Exile
Constelate | Instant | {U} Exile target creature. When a player casts a spell with the same name as the exiled creature, that player draws a card. Yendrae always felt her father looking down on her from the stars. The tragedy was how true this was.

I started with a couple of ideas thinking the idea was to use as many as possible, so there's a bit of bleed, but I might have cleaned it up enough? For simplicity I have nominated the criteria though I'm not sure if you want that either? Idk, anyway:
* Is a creature that has a repeatable instant or sorcery spell effect (Spellshapers, Kamahl, Fist of Krosa, etc) * A once commonplace item now rare
Master Lensforger | Creature - Human Artificer , sacrifice a land: Look at the top five cards of your library. Put one into your hand and exile the rest. If the sacrificed land was a desert, look at the top ten cards instead. "The finer the sand the finer the lense! I must see further! Further!" 0/1

exiles, once common, now rare. figurine of the nephilim Artifact-rare add 2 mana in any combination lands you control could produce, use this mana only to cast tricolored and quadricolored spells. ,sacrifice cardname:Choose a color, if you control a permanent of each other color, exile all permanents of the chosen color.
A once common place effect - Straight to the point destroy effects being printed at common I guess. Uses exile
In Memoriam - Instant (C) As an additional cost to cast ~, exile two cards with different card types from your graveyard. Destroy target creature. "The loss of my son grieves me, werewolf. But your agony upon death may yet give me comfort."
Repeatable Astrology
Celestial Beckoner - Creature - Human Spellshaper , : At the beginning of your next upkeep, ~ deals 13 damage to target creature. ~ doesn't untap during your next two untap steps. 1/3
* Is a creature that has a repeatable instant or sorcery spell effect (Spellshapers, Kamahl, Fist of Krosa, etc) * Uses exile
Dwemercore Dirgist Creature - Kithkin Wizard (U) : Exile another target non-token creature. That creature's controller creates a 3/2 black and blue Horror creature token with menace. You may not activate this ability during a combat phase. 2/2
* A once commonplace item now rare * Related to astrology/astronomy
Sigiled Sextant Artifact (R) As long as it is not your turn, lands you control produce an additional mana of any color when tapped for mana.

Sorry about being late with the grades, rl butted in a bit.
Grades:
Yarium
Lord of Pestilence - Is the once common thing repeatable creature killing effects? The card is neat, powerful while also requiring careful play. Flavor on the nose, but not bad. 7.5/10 Constelate - This is pretty neat, though rather pushed for the cost. Not to mention you can potentially use it for shenanigans. Love the flavor, though. 9/10 Total: 16.5/20
Imidazoline
Fragment Reforger - A good mechanical depiction of salvage. Flavor is servicable. 8/10 Master Lensforger - I feel like the card draw is strong, but the cost is pretty steep. You did a very good job of making it work in both colors flavorwise and via mechanics. 9.5/10 Total: 17.5
Hello World
figurine of the nephilim - This is weird. It's a good mana rock for commander and more alaran sorts of sets, and the exile ability could be useful, dependning on the situation. However, it needs more flavor than merely the name to tie it all together in a satisfying fashion. 7.5/10
Confused
In Memoriam - Understated and elegant, though it would be a little flavorfully stronger if you just exiled a creature card. "I'm greiving over the instant and sorcery I cast earlier, so you have to die." 9/10 Celestial Beckoner - The effect is big, the cost is high, and the delay in execution is incredibly flavorful. 10/10 Total: 19/20
AzureShade
Dwemercore Dirgist - This does a lot with very little. I can see uses for both sides of the board, and is finely balanced for either direction. My only complaint is that the card has hints of incredible flavor, but falls short of actually expressing it. 9.5/10 Sigiled Sextant - This is pretty powerful in control decks, as well as most decks with repeatable activated abilities. Not much to say, other than it's a nice reference. 8.5/10 Total: 18/20
Hello World has been eliminated. Thank you for playing! _______________________________________________________
Round 2:
Make 3 cards that together satisfy these criteria: * Non-green and uses cancer * Is a domesticated monster * Involves music * Power = toughness + X, where X is a non-zero converted mana cost. (eg: 4/2 for ) * Has a non-mana kicker cost.
Pro Tour: YMTC: SECOND ONE IS OVER STAY TUNED FOR THIRD ONE The BLOCK I'm currently pretending I'll finish:Fleets Of Ossia (complete!) | Wavebreak (complete!) | The Second Flood (in progress!) Razorborne and friends teach music theory to chumps like you:12tone
Hey Yinglung; yes, the Common part is the repeatable creature-killing. Specifically, it's the card Pestilence in creature form, which was first printed at Common, if you can believe it!

Non-green and uses cancer? Meaning? As in the medical condition? Or as in the horoscope?
I was going to see if I could do both...

The condition, the concept, the horoscope, the namesake, it's all good. The criteria is talking about the condition/concept, but if you can make an interesting card that uses some other cancer, I'd be just as happy to see that instead.
*power = toughness + X, where X is a non-zero converted mana cost. *involves music Conductor of War | Creature - Human Soldier | {U} Tempo (When you cast Conductor of War, choose for the tempo to become adagio or allegro.) Conductor of War has haste as long as the tempo is allegro, or vigilance if the tempo is adagio. [3/1]
*non-green and uses cancer Plague Infuser | Creature - Horror Wizard | {U} When Plague Infuser enters the battlefield, or a creature with a -1/-1 counter on it dies, put a -1/-1 counter on another target creature. [2/2]
*has a non-mana kicker cost *is a domesticated monster Purple Worm Mate | Creature - Beast | {R} Trample When Purple Worm Mate enters the battlefield, reveal the top card of your library. If Purple Worm Mate's kicker cost was paid, put a creature revealed this way onto the battlefield. Kicker — Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a card named Purple Worm Mate. Exile each card revealed this way, then put the revealed Purple Wurm Mate on top of your library. [4/4]

Spellbloom | Enchantment - Aura Curse | M Enchant player Whenever enchanted player casts an instant or sorcery spell, put a growth counter on Spellbloom, then that player copies that spell for each growth counter on it. At the beginning of enchanted player's end step, that player loses 3 life for each growth counter on Spellbloom. Lethal is only a word without the right perspective.
* power = toughness + X, where X is a non-zero converted mana cost * Has a non-mana kicker cost.
Pain Concentrate | Creature - Elemental Horror | R Kicker - Pay 10 life Trample, haste At the beginning of the end step, sacrifice Pain Concentrate. If Pain Concentrate was kicked, it has double strike. Beware the grin through broken teeth. 5/1
* Is a domesticated monster * Involves music
Charmed Gravelplax| Creature - Beast | R Double strike, trample When Charmed Gravelplax enters the battlefield, each opponent creates a 0/2 colorless Bard creature token with hexproof. Whenever Charmed Gravelplax attacks, it gets -4/-0 until end of turn if defending player controls a Bard. 4/4

Non-green and uses cancer.
From my limited understanding of cancer.
Scarring Blight - Enchantment - Aura Enchant Creature Split Second All +1/+1 counters on enchanted creature are -1/-1 counters. At the beginning of your end step, put a -1/-1 counter on enchanted creature.
Domesticated Power Toughness
Vicious Pitbull - Creature - Hound Haste, Trample ~ can't attack or block alone. At the beginning of your end step, if ~ didn't attack this turn, it deals 2 damage to you. 4/2
Involves music Non-mana kicker
Not sure if you consider war chants as music, I mean, it has some kind of rhythm.
War Chants of the Horde - Enchantment - Chant Kicker - Skip your next combat step. Creatures you control gets +1/+0. As ~ enters the battlefield, if you paid the kicker cost, create a copy of ~. At the beginning of your end step, if you control more creatures than chants, create a red Chant enchantment token with "Creatures you control gets +1/+0.". If you control less creatures than chants, sacrifice a chant.

* Non-green and uses cancer * Is a domesticated monster
Cancerous Crabrawler Creature - Crab Mutant You may exert Cancerous Crabrawler as it attacks. When you do, it gets +3/+0 until end of turn. (An exerted creature won't untap during your next untap step.) Whenever Cancerous Crabrawler untaps, put a -1/-1 counter on it. "Got a new contender for the pits! Fresh from the trainer and ready to shred the competition." - Deju, arena announcer. 4/4
* Power = toughness + X, where X is a non-zero converted mana cost. (eg: 4/2 for ) * Has a non-mana kicker cost.
Cinder Shadow Creature - Dragon Elemental Kicker—Tap three untapped goblins. (You may tap three untapped goblins you control in addition to any other costs as you cast this spell.) Flying, Haste Sacrifice Cinder Shadow at the end of any of your turns in which it was not kicked. 6/3
* Involves music
The Song of All Enchantment - Saga (As this Saga enters and after your draw step, add a lore counter. Sacrifice after III.) I — Destroy all artifacts and other enchantments. II — Create a 4/4 white legendary Angel creature token named Brindri with flying and indestructible. III — Double your life total.

Conductor of War - Tempo is a neat mechanic, with the potential for a lot of strategy and interaction. My only complaint is that a conductor should affect the whole orchestra, while the tempo dependent ability only affects themself. Unless tempo only appears on this creature and no other creature? Hard to say, given the inherent lack of context. 8.5/10 Plague Infuser - Solid uncommmon for lorwyn, and nearly identical to an enchantment already there. Unfortunately, the flavor is almost non-existant, and I would have to say that plagues are infectious, whereas cancer is not. 7/10 Purple Worm Mate - I can sort of admire the reason for splitting the etb effect and the kicker cost, where you could potentially use the gap in timing to put something big on top of your library and cheat it out. Not sure why this is purple, the only other card with purple in the name is a crab. Seems like a waste of a name word slot. 7/10 Total: 22.5/30
Imidazoline
Spellbloom - This seems tricky to use. It can easily backfire when on an opponent, and you pretty much want to play it on yourself at most one turn before you are ready to win the game. Flavor is kinda abstract. 8/10 Pain Concentrate - That's a pretty steep cost, though I suppose doubling the effect of pump on it is potentially worth it. The flavor is servicable, but doesn't really add any nuance. 8/10 Charmed Gravelplax - Music soothes the savage beast, eh? Not bad, and red does have a way to deal with the bard, so it's not too difficult to let it loose through normal play. Decent flavor expressed through mechanics. 9/10 Total: 25/30
Confused
Scarring Blight - Yes, this is a good interpretation of cancer into mechanical terms. This is a neat combat trick against a narrow list of targets, but I imagine there decks that could set up some good interactions. The flavor is servicable. 8/10 Vicious Pitbull - A good mix of red traits, and potentially making haste a drawback if you aren't careful. Feels pretty pushed, especially in multiples. I like the flavor inherent in the anti-pacifist drawback. 8.5/10 War Chants of the Horde - I'd say it counts. I love the flavor of the chant spreading among your army, and the dying echoes after taking casualties. The kicker ties in nicely as well, and the card as a whole scales nicely. 10/10 Total: 26.5/30
AzureShade
Cancerous Crabrawler - I like how it encourages you to make strategic decisions about how you use it, though it feels a little weak for the color density in the cost. Solid flavor that provides some basic context. 9/10 Cinder Shadow - It's nice to see a ball lightning variant use flying instead of trample, that's pretty novel. Likewise, I don't think I've seen kicker used in this way, and it works well. The kicker cost adds a little flavor as well, which is nice. 9/10 The Song of All - I hadn't heard of the source of the flavor, but it's a good fit for the saga conventions. Considering the effects, this feels too cheap. Sagas typically have two small effects and a big one that is comparable to the saga's mana cost. On this, II is already powerful enough for , and III would have to add about to the mana cost. 8/10 Total: 26/30
Yarium has been eliminated. Thank you for playing! _____________________________________________
Round 3:

Make 3 cards that together satisfy these criteria:
* Is a gorgon * Uses storm, gravestorm, or an original storm variant like gravestorm. * Seeks or finds forbidden knowledge
Sesketh, Ritebreaker Witch | Legendary Creature - Gorgon Shaman | M Deathtouch , : The next sorcery spell you cast this turn has gravestorm. "Let all be permitted once more". 2/5
* Uses a palindrome * Plants a false memory
Evitative Pattern | Instant | R Rebound Choose one or both - Return target spell it to it's owner's hand. Name a card. That card can't be cast until your next turn. Not today. Not tomorrow either.
* Is an equipment with soulbond * Harvests something
Tamashi Sakuru | Legendary Artifact - Equipment | R Soulbond Equip - Sacrifice a creature paired with Tamashi Sakuru. As long as Tamashi Sakuru is paired with a creature, both permanents have hexproof. Equipped creature gets +4/+4 and has first strike.
