Last Week's Winner

Can't say quite yet.
Last week the villains trapped our hero Malikot in the loser's bracket, only for him to boldly break free at the very last second.

"Create a Treasure" doesn't do anything, so I substituted it for the proper wording.

At the beginning of your end step, sacrifice a tapped creature.

Actual rules text would be something like: A creature with dream can't be blocked by untapped creatures and can be blocked by tapped creatures as though they were untapped.

The Rules

How To Nominate:
Quote the post with the card you want to nominate. Delete everything in that post other than the card. Copy and paste your quote into a post on this thread.
If you did it right the quote tag should link to the original post.

What's Eligible?
Any fan-designed M:TG card posted since the most recent CotW thread went live is eligible. It doesn't even have to be the first time the card was posted. Yes, Un cards are valid. No, Yugioh cards are not.

What's Not Eligible?
  • Nominating your own cards. You can only nominate cards by other people
  • Nominating a card from your own repost, regardless of whether or not the original post was yours.
  • Nominations that result from collusion. If a nomination is made in exchange for some sort of favour, or under some sort of threat, then the nomination is void.
  • Cards that have already won CotW are not eligible for future CotWs.
  • Nominations that I consider to be jokes or trolling.

A Note On Contests:
Many contest holders feel that having an entrant nominated for CotW will skew the results of their contest. To prevent this while still allowing those cards their chance at nomination, any card submitted to a contest is eligible for nomination to CotW as though the date the contest (or pertinent round of the contest) ended was the date the card was posted.

it's not my kind of card. Mainly because I had to look up what it's abilities do since I don't remember and never played with tribute

Honestly not a fan of any of these. The one I was close to was Hedge Knight but being unable to come out empty and being a Warrior normally so it can't take advantage of some tribal things like Unclaimed Territory or Haakon, Stromgald Scourge kills it.

Insatiable Narcophage and Changing Of THe Guards are my clear favourites.

Edit- forgot about Tethered Monstrosity. It's solid, but I'd put it in 2nd or 3rd place. I'm starting to lean towards Nacrophage as #1.

Debtor's Prison is alright. Potentially really good, but not until you set it up. Since that takes time, it eases my worries about fast mana.

"Hedge Knight" is a name that needs to be saved for a Dryad Knight, or at least a green knight. Weird that it's a Clone and not a warrior that gets stronger under tutelage or something. It also costs more than most knights that it could clone.

Mrawrgox has too much going on. I get that it all feeds into the theme, but 2 cost reduction mechanics, 1 way for you to pump it up and one way for your opponent to pump it up, being a potential mana source and sometimes dying on etb is just too much going on.
It's also usually not worth it. If you tap two creatures for convoke, offer one and devour the other you're still paying ( :5: - the cmc of the offered card) and two creatures to get a 4/4 and whichever is worse of 8 mana or a +4/+4 boost.
It's the devour
I guess if you think of the offering as a way to use an already doomed creature to save man, it's alright. But it's convoke + devour that really matter here. And unfortunately, devouring a board full of creatures for this leaves you open to a very painful Doom blade.
Fun to analyze certainly.

When you remove at least one +1/+1 counter from Giant Starfish, create a token copy of it.

Eerie Interlude
They're actually fairly different. Since Changing Of The Guard doesn't wait until end of turn to return creatures, it's a faster way to pile on etb triggers, but doesn't save them all from wrath effects. At first I assumed that it did, but it's not worded that way.

This is why I like Changing of the Guard so much -- it's got a lot of uses, but exists firmly in a good place with its most comparable cards. My only quibble is that putting creatures on the battlefield with it should be a may. I don't think you can be forced to, because the hand is a hidden zone, but I might want the option to hold them back in case of "In response, Containment Priest" so I just slapped myself with a one-sided Evacuation rather than a one-sided Final Judgment. Also helps make obvious what happens if a (non-copy) token gets returned and you don't have an Ornithopter (nothing happens).

Why would you want to destroy the same creature more than once? Is it a regeneration hoser?

Tevish probably meant "If it was damaged, copy this spell and choose new targets for the copy."
