Yeah, I should have changed to random once I started to up the number of cards, even at 3 it was probably better to do it random.

@razorborne It's actually just "this spell can't be countered" these days. 608.2b now says a spell simply "doesn't resolve" if every one of its targets is illegal.

Just Blue and Black would have sufficed on this card. The green seems un-needed

As a principle, I make a point of never arguing with judges over their comments of my cards, but I'm going to make an exception here because it's something I feel really strongly about.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Yes, black is the color of sacrificing, and blue is the color of messing around with tapped vs. untapped, but I think you're missing the bigger picture. Black may be the color of sacrificING, but green is the color whose creatures most want to be sacrificED. No one would play this card as their Commander, for example, if it didn't have green, because blue and black on their own do not have as many ways to gain value out of this effect. Nor would a blue/black deck be particularly interested in constructing the kind of deck that would win in the way this card encourages you to.

Green is the color of token generation. It's the color of Blisterpod and Young Wolf, of Mitotic Slime and Awakening Zone, or Momentous Fall and Greater Good. If you compare it with Dread Drone and Viscera Seer, there's no reason making Catacomb Sifter a monoblack card would break the color pie, but it's not one. They were going to put Phyrexian Soulgorger in black, but they made it an artifact so that people could play it in green.

In short, while blue and black would technically cover all the mechanical aspects of the card, it's my firm believe that adding green to the card gives it that secret ingredient that ties it all together and implies to the player how they should play the card in order to get the most value out of its effect.

I'm still a bit confused as where you'd put Truancy if you don't put it in the colors I did. IMO it's too straight-up destruction for blue.

Also, I think is too low a cost for it. 2WR is only defensible if you think Vindicate is fair or less than OP. IMO, shuffling into the library is a more powerful effect than destruction. Not by a greatly consequential amount, but more powerful.

Compare cards like Creeping Mold, Bramblecrush or Demolish even. This is a lot more powerful effect than those because it can hit creatures AND it shuffles into the library rather than destroying.

I mean Ixidron and Confiscate are both blue.

Ehhhh OK sure. But blue doesn't really get straight permanent destruction or control anymore right

I honestly have no idea how my card works with the comprehensive rules. My goal, if that matters, was that it only changed up the base p/t and other p/t altering effects would function as normal.

*"To YMTC it up" means to design cards that have value mostly from a design perspective. i.e. you would put them in a case under glass in your living room and visitors could remark upon the wonderful design principles, with nobody ever worring if the cards are annoying/pointless/confusing in actual play

Reality Shift is a fairly recent thing, and while limited to creatures would be a relevant touchstone. For control, Blatant Theivery was reprinted, but Explorers of Ixalan is quite odd so maybe that's not the best example. Expropriate lets you swipe any permanent (not just creatures) from "money" voters, Lay Claim is Amonkhet, and In Bolas's Clutches is Dom.

Judges, please post your rankings by Thursday, 9/27 at 22:00 Central. Thanks!

This is what I meant by night. But if tomorrow is the earliest you can do, no worries.
