As the date approaches, I'm starting to become a bit paranoid. Did anyone who applied get an email confirmation saying that they applied? Because I didn't. I feel like that's something WOTC should have done for something as grandiose as this.

I seem to recall reading that the mails would be going out around this weekend? It was something nonsensical like that, at least.

Re: Q;.

Yes; the lack of a confirmation email when submitting your name, such as you would receive after signing up for nearly anything else you have ever signed up for on the internet in your life, is merely another minor sign of the incompetence of the company you are hoping to work for.

Hopefully I've reassured you.

Good luck buddy!

EDIT: And if you get through, even though you can't get our help, just chirp in now and then and let us know how you're doing! We'll give all our support!

Oh I fully expect to wash out in the multiple choice round, since it will be well over 100 questions this time and the way they have cut down applicants in past GDS competitions is to only pass people who scored 100% on the multiple choice test and then whittle things down from there based on actually reading the essay questions more in depth before getting to the actual design portion of the event and then cut it down further to the top 8 and such.

But yes, on the off chance I beat the odds and score a 100% on the test and they like my essays enough to pass me....I'll take all the cheering on I can get.

I did one of the past multiple choice tests (after the gds was over) and they said you needed 44/50 to get through, then the essay came afterwards. I don't think they cut further from that, they just began design tests (non broadcast ones) to cut their top 160 or so to a top 8.

Since the essay is before the MC this time, the pass mark should be even lower

Got it done, waited way too long to do it.

Anyone have any interesting answers? I think of myself as a fairly conservative designer and I found myself kind of going off the deep end.
