Nobody around here plays tournaments but I love building decks so it seems logical to start building for some other formats. I know a little bit but haven't checked top decks in a long time. Anything I should now? Is enduring ideal good any more?

Enduring Ideal is too slow.

I play a good amount of Modern and I think the format is really open to brewing. There are a lot of powerful and cool cards nobody is playing with or working on. The card pool is really large so most of what you need is available. I think you just need to pick something and start building around it.

I was thinking ideal because there's stuff like sphere of safety and lots of things from theros now to mess with. But I'd have to splash green or something to ramp and then it just gets messy.

The real problem with an enduring ideal deck in modern is that despite all of the neat options and ways you can build your deck, ultimately you just ramp into idea, get form of the dragon and then win, which to me is not so exciting.

Are you just building for fun, or do you want to actually go to a tournament?

There are no tournaments so I'm just building because I build decks.
