I am wondering why Planeswalker-based bonuses are primary in :w:.

In my opinion, it's more fitting in :r: because that a lot of the analogies that is used for the Planeswalker phenomena are :r:. Even more interesting, :r: or :u: are the colors that apparently had the best chance of tracking and dealing with Planeswalkers, as Ral Zarek was able to track them in the Lightning Bug story.

On top of that, having :r: get PW tutors over :w: mechanically fits the colors more. :w: is supposed to run out of options, and then lose because of it.

White is the color of cooperation, Planeswalker cards represent allies.

I've always seen planewalkers (the card type) as pretty :b:. They're an ego, an immensely powerful and important individual with their own separate agenda that only sticks around when its working out for them (loyalty drops to 0, they're gone.) If you want to keep them as allies, you have to cater to them by having them use the abilities they want to use, and expending your own creatures to block for them. Even calling it a loyalty mechanic is a bit of a misnomer. It's a loyalty that's bought and has a definitive end.
