It should have "When [this creature] dies, return it to the battlefield flipped" rather than a replacement effect. That way, the flipped side does not immediately die to -1/-1 counters that were placed on the original side or other such things.

Throughout my years, I lost plenty of animals. It hurts, but new life is always waiting right over there.

I've lost a few cats and at this point I wonder what my reaction to the current one will be. This scares me. As such I will never get another pet after this one.
