So I have been working on a mono red deck, and this list has given me an absurd winrate, would you like to take it for a ride and tell me what do you think of it :D

Spoiler

How much damage do you typically get out of harsh mentor?

Bloodrage Brawler and Hanweir Garrison want to know if their friend Bloodlust Inciter can come over to play.

That's exactly what I was thinking... The more I play with the inciters, the more I like them. Only issue is with the creatures who already have haste...

That's exactly what I was thinking. The more I play with inciters, the more I like them. They're even great with glory chaser... Only issue is with creatures who already have haste, its like wasting resources...

Don´t get me wrong I have nothing but love for the Inciters, but this deck runs, glorybringer, Impetuous Devils, Lathnu Hellion, Fleetwheel Cruiser, Hazoret the Fervent + Hanweir Battlements that also provide haste for the little ones when you can afford it.

The Harsh mentor does damage depending on the match, he puts a very high task tax to vehicles, and he triggers with evolving wilds also, he can go from nothing to 6 damage on a game from his trigger in my experience.

EDIT: What do you think of the burn suite? I think it can be tuned up

With the hellions, I'd run Harnessed Lightning over the impulse (I'm not a fan).
Firecraft is great, I love it, but you really need something to kill copters and copters + Brawler is probably enough to justify some tempers... Problem is, if you go with Tempers, then you invariably start adding more Discard stuff, like neonates, etc...

Harsh mentor makes the harvester pay a task tax of 4.
I like the harnessed lighting swap

I think Instant speed is a good call, here is what I´m thinking of the burn suite:

3 harnessed lighting
4 Galvanic bombardment
1 fling

Pilot this list Barney
Please pilot this list Buddy :D

Cucho, your list is undefeated on the ladder so far (3-0) yet completely unable to beat the AI for some reason, lol. I don't care about that though.

It's fun to play. I like swinging Hellion and Glory Chaser into their 1/1 and watch them make a tough decision

I finally got to live the dream of playing a t4 Manticore on a t3 exhausted Hellion after two swings. VALUE

:face: Damn IA!
In the version I´m playing now, I swapped the glory chaser for Collective Defiance, because I realize that this deck can start a relentless attack on T3 and can still make a damn powerful curve, the CMC1 drop if it`s not cast on T1 It is hardly ever useful.
The most fun matches I have played with it are against Aggro where you have to play a little strategic defence before you release hell on their exhausted board.

I LOVE that play too

Thanks for the input!

So you recommend swapping both Glory Chasers for Collective Defiances?

Yes, Barney I think it's performing better with the swap.

I have updated the list a little, I have swapped Bloodrage Brawler for Ahn-Crop Crasher I may end up putting 25 lands and ditch the fling but for now it has improved the strategy a bit because lot of times I end up not wanting to cast the bloodrage for the discard cost (no madness), and it was painful to see it getting removed going 2-1, on the other hand the crusher I´m always happy to cast him :D
How is the Bloodrage performing for you Barney?

Anyone else want to chip on this one?

Spoiler

It's definitely strong. Have you thought about Kari Zev's Expertise? I can see that being more useful than Fling.

Edit: or maybe call of the full moon or Infectious Bloodlust or borrowed hostility? Siege Modification? One thing I don't like is how harsh mentor can end up just sitting around being a useless bear. Be nice to get a little more value out of it. Kari Zev really benefits from more power too.

Bloodlust I did consider but I havent tried it yet.

On the mentor, I really like how 18 creatures work on this deck and I wouldn't want to go below that number, The mentor can pilot the cruiser -yay!- and overall I do like how it has performed, it does not shine that much compared to Kari, Glorybringer or Hellions but he is all right, I like him on curve so I think we could hire another CMC2 creature that provides more value I´m thinking
- Ember Hauler
- Kessig Forgemaster
- Scourge Wolf

But im not convinced with any of them -_-

On the other hand I think I will go for the swap of fling for one expertise and see how that works :D

On The Brawler, i was mostly comboing him with Battlements so he comes out swinging. He also helps get Hazoret online quickly. I didn't mind him but I'll try the new build for sure

I'll try taking out Fling for expertise too
