Whenever you control another creature with converted mana cost 2 or more, sacrifice it and put two +1/+1 counters on Giu, Lone Hero.

I'm kinda designing a set with hand matters as one of the main themes. Another important theme will be CMC.

The CMC restriction on the card is mostly flavorful, but also cause I didn't want a token engine to become a counter engine. :)

Edit: used to be one counter.

The second ability needs to have something that triggers it:

  • At the beginning of your end step, if you control another creature with converted mana cost 2 or more, sacrifice that creature and put a +1/+1 counter on Giu, Lone Hero.
  • Whenever a creature with converted mana cost 2 or more enters the battlefield under your control, sacrifice it and put a +1/+1 counter on Giu, Lone Hero.

I think you actually have room to make Giu quite a bit stronger with this large of a drawback. That being said, I like the idea.

PS: Giu means "down / below" in Italian.

The idea is that you don't play other creatures. But if you have other creatures in play and you have to sacrifice it, at least get something.

He doesn't accept anyone stronger, so creatures with CMC 1 or 0 are fine.

I based the wording on Emperor Crocodile (reversed) cause I saw it on the other thread, but maybe you're right. I was going to make it "Whenever another creature ETB...", but I also wanted to sacrifice the creatures you already had in play.

I had no idea about the Italian meaning. I just made a random name. :P

It's meant to be played with auras and stuff. That's why it has hexproof. I could also make it two counters for each creature.

Maybe I can give him some evasion, but I don't really want it to be that powerful. And you can also kill him quite easily if you need to.

I love the wording, which if anything, is probably an indicator that you should change it. Either way, it should be "whenever", since it's an event you expect to happen multiple times (unlike Crocodile, since it terminates itself.)

I think I'll make it two counters. For a second I thought of making it a number of counters equal to the cmc of the sacrificed creature but maybe it's too good.

Killing your other creatures doesn't seem all that heroic to me. If you want to keep the loner feel, you could give him a Lone Revenant style ability and better base stats. As a bonus that would make him a good control finisher.
