From the old Wizards forum, some of you may remember ChainOfFool's Chain Game. Unfortunately it ended up dying well before the forums themselves went down. I figured it's about time it comes back.

The rules are simple:
1) Give some sort of critique of the card above you.
2) Make a card fitting the criteria provided by the previous poster.
3) Give your own criteria. Try to not make it too ambiguous so that there is a base for the next user, nor too exact so it isn't pretty much just you making a card and a half.
4) Rinse and repeat.

I'll give the first criteria to start this off: Make a non-human zombie.

Rotted Apple Chomper
Creature ─ Unicorn Zombie (C)
: Add to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to activate abilities from graveyards.
2/2
Even in death they lead the charge.

Criteria: Make a green whale.

Rotted Apple Chomper doesn't feel to me. It's only mana ramp, which goes to graveyard cards, so it's more to me.

Kiora's Scout
Creature - Whale Scout
Flash
When you don't control any islands, sacrifice ~.
When ~ etb, if you lost life this turn, draw two cards. Otherwise, search your library for a Forest or Island card and put it into your hand.
Quite docile, Kiora tamed this creature to smell out safe havens for her to recuperate. It could even find places on land through radar, when other whales are restricted to sonar.
0/8

Make a red/blue Horror.

So this is basically the most insane Wall of Blossoms ever conceived. You can use fetchlands and painlands to cast it as a 2-mana Inspiration and Hydrosurge, and then it sits around blocking your opponent's largest beater every turn. It is absurdly good. It doesn't feel much like a whale to me either - I'd imagine whales to have some combat capability. 4/10

Fractal Anomaly

Creature - Weird Horror (M)
2/1

Fractal Anomaly enters the battlefield tapped.
Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, put a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of Fractal Anomaly.

"The philosopher's gold was not the first. It will not be the last."
-Philosopher Haereticus

Criteria: Make a card with multiple uses.

Wow that's super underpowered. As a general rule, if your 2-colored 6 drop dies to literally every removal spell ever, can't shut down aggro the turn you play it, and can't immediately win you the game if you untap with it, it's not worth playing.

I'd bolden what's wrong here, but boldening a lack of letters doesn't show anything. :incognito:
By the way, this is probably why the Chain Game died on the WotC forums. That, and newbies who were more interested in sharing their god-mode cards than actually offering constructive criticism. This is not a statement on Cato's card.

Statement on Cato's card: Why is a seed giving me a creature card? No issue with the other parts of the card...except perhaps the idea that a mere seed can stop a bear...This card basically rubs the Vorthos in me the wrong way. :incognito: But my Johnny side appreciates the array of usefulness the creature provides.

EDIT: Added text to the quote since it freaks out otherwise.

Oh yeah criteria:

Pick your favorite set, and make a card that could have been printed in it.

Future Sight

Rage Elemental
Creature-Elemental
Landfall--Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, target creature you control gains menace or double strike until end of turn.
3/3

It could have been printed as a futureshifted card. :3

Criteria: Make a card with the word "teammate" in its rules text.

It seems weird to give two options. Not that it's bad or anything, just weird. Power level is a bit low, but within reason.

Gifted Diplomat :u::w:
Creature - Human Advisor
:t:: Exchange control of target permanent you control and target permanent a teammate controls.
2/2

Criteria: Make a creature with haste.

A very interesting card. Ramp your teammates by giving them land in exchange for other permanents? Give your planeswalkers to your teammates so you can use their abilities more than once a round? The possibilities are endless. 8/10

Living Lightning

Creature - Elemental (R)
6/1

Trample, haste

Lightning does strike twice.

Criteria: Make an artifact that transports your creatures.

Nice concept, an interesting twist on ball lightning. Reminds me of Thunderblust. Flavor text is pretty cool too.

Town Portal Scroll :2:
Artifact
:t:, sacrifice ~: Untap target creature you control and remove it from combat. Draw a card.

I am bad at these things

Make a card that represents something you'd like to someday do.

I don't know if it's playable but I like how it adds another option to combat bluffing. I just wish it did more.

And I really want to vacation in Alaska or some other far north location during the summer.

Midnight Sun
Instant
Return each creature card that was put into your graveyard from the battlefield this turn to the battlefield under your control with a +1/+1 counter on it.

Criteria: Make a card that gives a tribal bonus to two different tribes.

I would also like to return from the dead someday. The cost seems ok...I would be inclined to add more personally. The power level is strong to be sure but I think reasonable. 8/10.

Muglug, the Great Uniter
Legendary Creature ─ Ogre (R)
Trample
Ogres and orcs are goblins.
6/6

Does that qualify?

Criteria: Make a card that supports Schemes.

That's certainly interesting...And I would count it, simply because there are more cards that support Goblin tribal than Ogre or Orc tribal, so it makes sense to just change creature types in order to get that flavor of three groups coming together for one cause. Although...I feel like white needs to be involved for some reason...for that "unity" bit...

Contingency Plan
Enchantment
Whenever you abandon an ongoing scheme, you may set a scheme in motion.

Criteria: Make a non-Aura Curse enchantment.

Criteria, please :)

(I think it's weird that he's not a Goblin himself, especially since as long as he's in play he counts as a Goblin in addition to an Ogre.)

It's right there, I don't know what you're talking about. :incognito: Ignore that "last edited" bit, I just spelled a word wrong...:P
